Ievgen Khytrov
Ievgen Khytrov
What do people think about this guy? He stepped up for this last fight but is now back on Shobox fighting tonight vs a can. What gives? Why the turn back in competition?

Re: Ievgen Khytrov
Had a great chance to be the Middleweight Gold medalist in London, dropped Anthony Ogogo twice and tied at the end, judges basically just picked the winner as Ogogo, if he would have got the nod he already had beat eventual gold medalist Murata a year earlier.
Guy has skill, only problem is that he has had over 500 amateur fights.
Just don't know how long this guy will hold up.

The most fan friendly style in boxing, True beast like kudryashov... or like Bob Foster and Kid Pambele were... Lots of fun to watch. He has improved his timing and patience which now make him a dangerous stalker puncher
Re: Ievgen Khytrov
One of my favorite prospects. I consider him an intelligent stalker who while not particularly skillful or difficult to hit is more than just someone who tactlessly walks forward looking to bomb opponents out with power.
As for his next bout, I think it was made before the Melendez fight and I don't have a problem with it considering he only fought a month ago; it's not like he waited around doing nothing for months and ended up with this. Hopefully another step-up happens after his next bout, which he didn't have to wait long for and likely won't take much out of him.

What a sloppy fight. Khytrov almost looked like Stevens. He needs better trainers.
Re: Ievgen Khytrov
He didn't look that sloppy to me (not sure if you meant that when you said 'sloppy fight'), but he did look one-paced and it was probably his least impressive showing.

A less than stellar performance but it was against a tricky foe who came to frustrate him. The sort of bout that will teach him plenty even if he didn't shine.
Re: Ievgen Khytrov
I can't stand those Shobox announcers. Farhood actually said Khytrov isn't a puncher. Really no idea how his job is supposedly analyzing fights.
Anyway, he looked alright, but he isn't really improving. After 500 amateur fights, you have to wonder if it really is wise to try and turn him into another kind of fighter at this stage. He's good at what he does, no need to force some other boxing "standard" to his style. Just needs a few simple adjustments.

Does he have the same trainers as Stevens ? That wouldn't be good.Blodhemn wrote:I can't stand those Shobox announcers. Farhood actually said Khytrov isn't a puncher. Really no idea how his job is supposedly analyzing fights.
