Welshman beats Pom for Aussie title, what?
Welsh born Jamie Weetch is now holder of the Western Australian state super middleweight title having won a ‘Battle of Britain’ of sorts by stopping English born Darran Allison, in Northbridge on Friday night.

That has probably happened a load of times, surely?
Lester Ellis vs Barry Michael, both of them were born in England.

Both have been in Oz long enough, but they haven't done enough to contest AustralianLike a Boss wrote:Welsh born Jamie Weetch is now holder of the Western Australian state super middleweight title having won a ‘Battle of Britain’ of sorts by stopping English born Darran Allison, in Northbridge on Friday night.

Nothing better than seeing a sheep shagger win a belt from a sheep shagger.

So the qualification for state titles is a lesser duration than national titles?AntonS wrote:Both have been in Oz long enough, but they haven't done enough to contest AustralianLike a Boss wrote:Welsh born Jamie Weetch is now holder of the Western Australian state super middleweight title having won a ‘Battle of Britain’ of sorts by stopping English born Darran Allison, in Northbridge on Friday night.

Weetch is a super tough puncher/boxer. He was a Welsh amatuer champion.
He lost his pro debut to Sam Hogan but had Sam in big trouble early until Weetch's fitness run out. He has progressively got better and had a Majority decision loss to Renato Oliveira in a fight which could have gone either way. Again fitness let him down. He learnt plenty in that fight. As he has been pacing himself far better. And picking shots better. Since then.
I'd back Weetch to beat most of the guys at 154 in this country if he keeps improving the way he is going.

That's a fair wrap Ben. How do you think he would go with Rocky Jerkic or Shaggy King?Sweet P wrote:Weetch is a super tough puncher/boxer. He was a Welsh amatuer champion.

I would think would be a common thing over the years. All three Waters boys were born in London and won plenty of state and national titles

ATM, insufficient experience & not rated to contest National title over 10, but most likely OK for some of Regional titles over 12 ;;-)Like a Boss wrote:So the qualification for state titles is a lesser duration than national titles?AntonS wrote:Both have been in Oz long enough, but they haven't done enough to contest AustralianLike a Boss wrote:Welsh born Jamie Weetch is now holder of the Western Australian state super middleweight title having won a ‘Battle of Britain’ of sorts by stopping English born Darran Allison, in Northbridge on Friday night.

Looking at current National ratings, Weetch will probably score a spot in next lot....replacing Marcos Amado, who's been inactive since August

On Friday Dane Campbell (AUS) fought Qu Peng (CHN) for the "WBO China National Light Heavyweight title" in a 6 rounds O_o. The folk at the bout paraded the belt around as if it was a really meaningful title as well
