De La Hoya suing Haymon
http://www.si.com/boxing/2015/04/27/gol ... on-lawsuit
For anti-trust violations and violation of the Ali Act. I don't think the anti-trust thing will fly, or else the UFC would be screwed. The Ali Act violations may have legs. Haymon may not technically be a licensed promoter but he definitely blurs the line.

Re: De La Hoya suing Haymon
i have nothing against a monopol, as long as the monopol provides the best fights. but since haymon is not interrested in the elite fights (kovelav-stevenson, even mayweather-pacquiao, i mean, we get the fight now, but haymon never wanted this fight, floyd is haymons puppet, had haymon realy wanted the fight than it would have easily been done in the last 5 years) happening, i dont like haymon and his promotion style.
i like golden boy, they make the fights happen, that matter, even against strong challenges, were there is a chance of losing, like canelo-lara.

I easly prefer GBP over Haymon for example Haymon would have never made the Matthysse/ Provodnikov fight but GBP made the fight quickly.
GBP makes fights for the fans Haymon makes fights for his pockets.
Yet for for ridiculous reasons ppl actually find reasons to defend Haymon.

the very best example is
mayweather-canelo
and
mayweather pacquiao
oscar said, golde boy wants a happy day for boxing fans and thats why we put on danny garcia- ucas matthysse on the undercard, normaly this would be a main event fight, but we want fants to be happy to see 2 main event fights on one evening. oscar and canelo, couldve easily said, "no we want all money for ourselves and not 2 star boxer like danny and matt take some cash out of our event"
what does haymon do, maximum amount amount of money for 1 fighter (floyd) and a bullshit undercard, cause it more important that floyd gets 180 million, instead of maybe 170 million, with 10 million you could have invest in a great undercard bout, something like rigondeaux-cruz, you would have had even money left, guess rigo boxes for 2 million, cruz for anything above 1 haha.....but not, floyd needs 180.

Glad you got to it before I did.fergusg wrote:Some of the thoughts that have been conveyed in this thread have been utterly preposterous!
I wish some of these casual fight fans would actually make an effort to perform some research and educate themselves about a sport that they proclaim to be passionate about!
Sometimes, tho, you gotta treat those posts like the comedy they are...
And BTW (directed to general audience), THIS LAWSUIT HAS A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HADES.
I can't wait for GBP's lawywers to explain all the business they did with Haymon so recently.

Actually I think the allegations of violations of the Ali Act could have legs. Technically Haymon is not a promoter but I think we all know that "technically" is the operative word there.
In all likelihood this gets settled out of court.

You must referring to the folks defending Haymon because ive been at this sport for a long time champ.fergusg wrote:Some of the thoughts that have been conveyed in this thread have been utterly preposterous!

Difference is a lot of folks on these boards are only fans of certain fighters or fighters of there nationality(not real boxing fans) which is a sad thing at this day age.

They JUST stopped doing business with him earlier this year.
He is a crook now less than 3 and a half month later?
And BTW, Haymon ALREADY paid GBP
“Source: 'We came to conclusion we couldn't make the fights we wanted to make.' GB received "substantial financial compensation" from Haymon.

That doesn't really have a lot of bearing on whether he's violating the law or not.
He already paid GBP because they relinquished promotional rights to a bunch of their fighters and he had to compensate them.

Re: De La Hoya suing Haymon
Ive been through this on countless threads so i wont waste too much time on stubborn folks.
But do you think if Haymon really wanted to make a fight the fans wanted he couldnt make it happen despite hbo BS.
Haymon isnt about making the fuucking best fights around shiit look at poor Leo santa cruz guy has been fighting nothing but cans for his entire career spent with Haymon. And its sad cuz the kid can probably beat anyone around his weight but thats Haymon for ya.
But you guys keep buying the tickets shiit somebody has to.
Have fun.
