Sam Eggington vs Joseph Lamptey
For Frankie Gavin's vacated Commonwealth WW title on sky this Saturday, great to see Eggington get a shot at a title,he's a good old fashioned pro by the looks of things, he hasn't been hyped and has been matched hard and has had some good wins despite a couple of losses which were both on points in Prizefighter tournaments (Dale Evans and Johnny Coyle). He looked excellent in his stoppages over Vassell and Singleton and I'm expecting him to beat Lamptey
I had a look at Lamptey's record, no notable wins but a couple of defeats to Obedai Sai who got a rough time against Jamie Cox in a Commonwealth title fight up at LMW a few years ago,Cox got away with murder that night and probably should have been DQd ,he also lost on points to Ishmael Tetteh who Martin Murray stopped
Sam against Bradley Skeete for the British/Commonwealth would be a great scrap,in fact even Sam against Gavin would be a great fight

Unofficially top of the bill now in my eyes.
I doubt Skeete will box Sam to be honest, he didn't want to when Sam was in line for the English title.

Some commonwealth fights can be a mixed bag Sam is 1/25 with bookies in this so the card is looking very poor.
Got time for Sam though good prospect him v Foot for the British was mentioned so hopefully that is next.

I like Sam a lot I've seen him a few times on the local shows before he signed with Matchroom so will be nice to see him win his first 'proper' title.Naandrew wrote:Some commonwealth fights can be a mixed bag Sam is 1/25 with bookies in this so the card is looking very poor.

Although have to agree looks to be the usual vacant commonwealth vs tough teak ghananian type fight so in my view a step back for Sam opponents wise. Can't knock him personally for that though as you say he's been properly matched!

I've really liked the look of Eggington his last few fights. It's hard to believe he's so young! Never seen this fellow he's fighting but we know they breed them tough in that part of the world! Someone said earlier that him and Skeete would be a cracker. Would love to see that!
Re: Sam Eggington vs Joseph Lamptey
Before Eggington signed with Matchroom he was mandatory for Skeetes English title at one point. Skeete never wanted the fight then and I doubt anythings changed now to be honest. Especially less likely with them both being with rival promoters.Stuarty30 wrote:I've really liked the look of Eggington his last few fights. It's hard to believe he's so young! Think Eggington would walk through Skeete and KO him, if Skeete stuck to his boxing he could proove problematic for Sam but I'm swayed to Eggington KO if they fought now.
Re: Sam Eggington vs Joseph Lamptey
I was thinking that about the promoters. Don't know how easy that fight would be to make. I think it's a real 50/50 fight tbh but you're probably right, Eggington is a really dangerous fight for Skeete so he'll more than likely go a different route. Maybe Eggington vs Gavin depending on how results go? Can't see Gavin troubling Brook.ste1983 wrote:Before Eggington signed with Matchroom he was mandatory for Skeetes English title at one point. It just won't happen without purse bids as Skeet is with FWStuarty30 wrote:I was thinking that about the promoters. Don't know how easy that fight would be to make. At the rate his fighters fall or walk away Bradley will soon be the jewel in fwank's empire, they wouldn't risk him against eggington. His opponent this weekend is 40 years old !
Re: Sam Eggington vs Joseph Lamptey
If Ochieng wins his next fight I could easily see Sam vs Ochieng on the Cards easy match up for Matchroom
Re: Sam Eggington vs Joseph Lamptey
If they fancied a nice easy defense of Eggingtons title yes I suppose thats a match that could be easily made.mcato wrote:If Ochieng wins his next fight I could easily see Sam vs Ochieng on the Cards easy match up for Matchroom
Sams passed that level now for me, although saying that he is only a young lad no rushing.
