Would you be mad at a GGG vs Jermain Taylor matchup?

Post by CrazyHorse »

I wouldn't mind seeing this tbh. GGG wins but its a big name on his resume (I know he is past his prime but is still a contender at mw) but I'd only like to see this fight if he cannot secure Cotto, Canelo, Quillin ect.

If the fight is at 168 then I think Ward will hold and hug his way to a boring unanimous judges decision. If it were at 160 I could see it as interesting but unless there is a ref that cracks down on his holding then I don't see Ward losing

I don't think GGG needs a name that's past his best. He needs a name towards the top of his game to get the recognition e deserves. If he wants to hang around and dominate MW for a while fair play but he's fast running out of people worth fighting

I'm not sure Jermain should fight again, Golovkin would knock him out quick, it might be entertaining but Taylor is damged goods and it might be very dangerous :)

That would be inhumane punishment for Taylor. He needs to be treated in a mental institution, not executed in the ring.

I'd be so mad I'd just ignore the fight and the build up

Then I'd probably start some new MayPac threads in CS just incase people stopped getting pissed off and forget about those 2 warriors who put it all on the line for us lucky fans that magical night in Vegas

Isn't Taylor going to be in prison for a long stretch?

Monroe Jr made a decent showing last night. I'd like to see him again. I guarantee you 3GS face knows it was in a fight last night.

Taylor's name brought up v 3G makes me laugh not mad.

He also quit like a bitch. He should have just stayed down, instead of pretending he wanted to continue.

Taylor is a top 10 ranked fighter and should still have the IBF belt.

Monroe Jr was a nothing opponent and I'd like it if Golovkin stopped fighting such low level fighters if possible.

Taylor is already brain damaged. Do you want to see him die in the ring?

If Monroe Jr can put together a couple of decent wins, I would like to see him back in there with the top level MWs. I think he would have a decent chance against every single one of them.

A sustained beating is more likely to kill him than a quick blast out. Taylor is still a top 10 ranked fighter, so he's not a washed up bum getting dragged out of retirement for a battering.

In this weak division he has a chance.

Not a fight even worth discussing, as others have pointed out.

Hahahahahaaaa, Jermain Taylor gets put to sleep in the worst fashion that GGG has done to anyone, but I'd love to see it.

i know people on here claim the belts don't matter but if this fight was for the IBF
that taylor was already stripped of, then i would say yeah do it, because the winner
of cotto-geale is mandated by the wbc to fight GGG, which would only leave andy lee
with a title. for the right money, lee would fight GGG i'm sure, but he would prefer to
first defend against saunders or macklin in the UK or ireland or maybe a rematch with
quillin, which there would be time for while GGG takes the other 2. the problem is if
lee loses, no way would quillin or any of the others fight GGG. if GGG held all 4 titles,
no matter what people say about the abc's, it sets up a bottleneck at middle and also
draws top guys from 154 and 168 and i believe it makes GGG the top draw, especially
with his style. with the money that comes from that, everyone from 3 divisions will be
in line to fight him because it will be worth it, and the best matchups will bring more
money. if it's an IBF fight, then do it. otherwise no point. GGG has said himself he wants
to tie up all the titles and i think he's smart to take that route despite how some people
can't stand the abc's.

They are just realistic. There is no money on the table to satisfy both Andre and Gennady. Golovkin is a way better draw than Ward now, but what he draws is just not enough for this level of opposition.
