Rick Skelton

Post by stujones »

I was just trawling trying (and struggling) to get my head around the new boxrec - I came across Rick Skelton's record - for a 21 year old it is pretty impressive. Bradley Pryce can still give English title level fighters a tough fight, but reading the points decision it would appear that Skelton was pretty comprehensive.

Whilst he has a lot of the usual suspects on his resume, these are fighters who can sometimes make it very close against the prospects (e.g. Warburton) but it would appear the manner of his wins are quite wide.

I cannot remember the name being on TV, so I do not think I have seen him (it does not ring a bell) - but for a 21 year old he seems to be doing well. Slightly concerning about his inactivity though.

Anyone seen Rick in action?

I have seen him a couple of times he is a slick southpaw, really good footwork and fast. He made easy work of Pryce and was patient wasnt drawn into the fight Pryce wanted. Im no expert but he looks good but with his awkard style and southpaw he could be avoided.

Will he fight at middle or light-middle? I think he's fought at both weights.
Middleweight domestically is a cracking division.

probs middle as hes still young and growing but i could be wrong he may make the light middle weight easily. I know that he was sparring Kell Brook before the Gavin fight, also trained by Karl Ince.

Be interesting to see who dominates the domestic scene.
If Blackwell wins his next fight against Jones he's going to have to fight either
Ryder
Doran
Skelton
Mendy ( I think qualifys)
Etches

Who's commonwealth champ or is the belt vacant?
