Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
Now, I know I'm asking people to show me knowledge on a 4-0 fighter here, so I'm not expecting a wealth of knowledge.
But in the Croydon Guardian this morning it taked about a 'Beddington boxer' Charlie Edwards who is fighting Louis Norman for the English flyweight title on the 02 bill on September 12th. According to boxrec records, he was born in Sutton and lives in Epsom. I grew up near Sutton, and still work there, so would be quite interested to see how he does.
I don't suppose there's any chance anybody has seen any of his previous four fights? He doesn't look much of a puncher.

You're right. A simple mistype on my part, I'll edit that.maley1984 wrote:Its flyweight not feather mate.

Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
Sticks the ball right into Prince Patels court if Edwards does win. Incidentally what's this beef between IFL's Sonny Donnelly and Patel? James Helder seemed to insist that Patel issue an apology to Donnelly before the last interview they did.
Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
So Edwards is a local lad for you? Louis lives 10 mins from me. We're now bitter rivals...ILikeBeer wrote:Now, I know I'm asking people to show me knowledge on a 4-0 fighter here, so I'm not expecting a wealth of knowledge.

Not got Sky Sports, so sometimes miss the shows. I'll check out the 02 card. That's Anthony Joshua, isn't it?handsofstone wrote:Wasnt Edwards on a show about pushy parents as an amateur?

It will, Hearn confirmed it's the first televised fight.ILikeBeer wrote:Not got Sky Sports, so sometimes miss the shows. I'll check out the 02 card. That's Anthony Joshua, isn't it?handsofstone wrote:Wasnt Edwards on a show about pushy parents as an amateur?

Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
He fought on the Crolla/Perez & Quigg/Martinez show but didnt box until after the main event meaning that not many people saw him including me.
Nice warm up to a title shot in front of 3 men & a dog.

Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
He was last on the bill in Manchester a couple of weeks, I stayed around to watch him but had a few on board. He won on points, that's about all I can remember
Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
I watched his fight at the end of the Manchester show and have seen him once on sky it think.
Looks a decent prospect though he does sound like a tennis player with most of his punches though ......

Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
He's a cracking little fighter.
Great amateur.
He beat Patel 4 times as a amateur. I hope he beats the poo out of him as a pro.
He bullied the IFL apprentice hence the reason James Helder insisted the apology.
Edwards - Norman is a seriously good fight.
Kudos to both for agreeing to it so early in their careers.

Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
Before last saturday I would have picked Edwards to beat norman in a close good fight after saturday and seeing normans improvement i have changed my mind think this will be a little bit too early for edwards.Who ever wins this would be way too much for Patel in fact i think the loser of this is way too much for patel.Great fight between two good young fighters.
Re: Anybody know much about Charlie Edwards?
Credit to both Norman and Edwards for taking the fight early in their careers.
