Ten fights and 4.5 years ago after handily sweeping the first 5 rounds, not to mention that around the same age Ward was hurt by a mediocre clubfighter in Andy Kolle and Wlad was stopped by Purrity.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Canelo/Cotto hands down

Lemieux has come back well, as he fights more intelligently and is arguably top 5 now.

None of them. I don't see any of these fights being competitive. Oddsmakers seem to agree with me about two of 'em.

Canelo/Cotto all the way.
The other two ppvs are jokes.

I've bought plenty of PPV's and I can assure you I won't pay for any of these.
It doesn't matter who Floyd Mayweather fights I won't pay for it after the last one, hell there were only 3 fights on the card and the undercard match ups involving Lomachenko and Cruz were so badly matched and one sided I doubt Floyd will ever see a penny out of me ever again.
Fact is Floyd maybe skillful but he's rarely involved in very entertaining fights, it's kind of like Bernard Hopkins ... great technical boxer but hardly what you'd call the entertaining type.
Sorry GGG has not done enough to warrant PPV status and until he puts some big names on his resume I won't pay for his fights on PPV period, if I miss them so be it.
Of the 3 Cotto v Canelo is the most appealing, but without a strong undercard and a reasonable price tag which I doubt very much we'll get, there's no way I'm paying for that either.
Boxing asks way too much for what they're giving and it's just not worth it anymore.
To be honest I don't even plan my Las Vegas trips around the sport like I use to, boxing has fallen so far down the list in terms of quality entertainment I'm more likely to shell out for a fraction of the cost and go and watch the show The Jersey Boys at the Paris hotel on the strip again and opt out of the boxing which I've now done a few times.
I'm a guy who forked out a lot of money over the years to see boxing, I travelled to see Roy Jones in Portland, Las Vegas and New York and Miguel Cotto in Vegas and New York, Lennox Lewis in New York and Marco Huck in Berlin out of my own pocket among others and I've paid good money and that's everything included, tickets hotel airfare the lot.
It adds up.
The quality of most of the events [not all] are very subpar and many of the match ups are predictable.
I know people who paid over three and a half thousand dollars for Mayweather v Pacquiao tickets and look how that was received by almost everyone.
Oh for the days when I went to the Mandalay Bay to watch Erik Morales v Marco Antonio Barrera 1 and Antonio Margarito v Sergio Martinez on the undercard ... Ticket price $50 What does that tell you of how far we have progressed.

Would pay to witness Mayweather-Berto. How can you turn down the opportunity to watch (in possibly his final bout) one of history's great fighters? And I wouldn't underestimate Berto who's talented (despite some strange performances) and figures to be sky high for this one.
Canelo-Cotto? How can you resist it? Two Top 10 P4P guys going at it in a renewal of the always fun and dramatic Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry.
Golovkin against Lemieux? No way.
Lemieux can punch but is saddled with ordinary skills and a very suspect chin. Seeing his 2 losses, I also question his heart when things get rough.
Figures to be a routine 2 round blowout, maybe 3.

I think $15.95 is a decent price. But I want a good undercard. Maybe plus Andy Lee taking a piss?SenorPipino wrote:I'm certain that for the right price, he'd accomodate you.reggaereggae wrote:I would rather pay to watch GGG take a dump than watch Berto-Mayweather

Id feel better if he'd have avenged one or both of his shitty losses.crusader wrote:Ten fights and 4.5 years ago after handily sweeping the first 5 rounds, not to mention that around the same age Ward was hurt by a mediocre clubfighter in Andy Kolle and Wlad was stopped by Purrity.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Canelo/Cotto hands down

Ward getting hurt and Lemieux being broken down and stopped then outboxed by an even worse opponent r 2 different things.
I want to see it GGG vs Lemieux, hell Davids power has my interest. Canelo vs Cotto seems like a better fight, funner and more relevent fight.

Cotto v Canelo is only 1 of the 3 worthy of ppv. Golivkin is POV calibre since he's #1 pfp but he needs decent opponents, he'll ko dl easily in 3 rds.

Looking forward to Canelo/Cotto.
Couldn't care less about the other two.

No shame in losing to Rubio....David was only 22, facing a perennial contender who was much more experienced, and he handily won the first five rounds before gassing. He also took the Alcine fight too quickly after the Rubio loss, was going through issues with his team, and I thought this manifested in him fighting without much confidence. He's since comeback with a nice winning streak, has scored career best wins, and him being able to beat N'dam makes me confident that he's much better than the person who was outboxed by Alcine. He looks more confident and fights significantly more intelligently, which includes pacing himself better to maintain power deeper into fights and avoid tiring as he did against Rubio.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Id feel better if he'd have avenged one or both of his shitty losses.crusader wrote:Ten fights and 4.5 years ago after handily sweeping the first 5 rounds, not to mention that around the same age Ward was hurt by a mediocre clubfighter in Andy Kolle and Wlad was stopped by Purrity.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Canelo/Cotto hands down

I wasn't trying to suggest that Ward's early career struggles were as bad as Lemiuex's (though they certainly happened against worse opponents; Rubio is far better than someone like clubfighter Andy Kolle). However, it does show, along with examples such as Wlad's loss to Purrity, that fighters can make great improvements with age and experience.
Now I still understand why some people don't think the fight is PPV material and I was surprised to see it turned out as such, but I also think some people are wrongly glued to the idea that Lemieux isn't that good just because he has losses, neither of which occurred just 5 bouts ago contrary to your claim.

I'd still rather watch GGG with constipation and not managing to produce anything than watch Berto-Mayweather.

The question for every boxing fan/consumer is this during the fall if you are on budget and can't buy all the PPVs.
Do you want to spend $49.95 on GGG-Lemieux, $59.95 on Cotto-Canelo or $64.95 on Floyd-Berto?

It might not be the most entertaining of the bouts, but it features one of history's great champions. A name even mainstream fans will always remember.
Only the hardcore fans will recall the other fighters a decade from now.
