I wonder if Periban earned that with his recent blowout loss to Degale. Maybe the Love loss?

At least its a step up from Smith, this time next year he will be in line to fight for a world title, until then DeGale is the No.1 SMW :TU:

Is this the first time Ward has been on a PPV? Even being a undercard fighter is a step up from being on BET isn't it?

who will bite first?

Periban fought a good fight against Bika I think.. Ward has to get the rust off, he just needs to keep winning and get back to the same sharpness he had before. All this time out of the ring though, he better impress this time around cuz 2 tune ups is enough.

Smith was the guy Ward just fought, DeGale also knocked him out 5 years ago when he was 8-0 and still learning the pro game, Periban has won 2 of his last 6 (against nobodies) and got knocked out by DeGale at the end of last year.

2-3-1 in his last 6, rated #26 at Super Middle?

It wasn't easy but SOGgy managed to one up FMJ on garbage opponents.

Yes, I know he has been sitting on his godly butt for awhile but can we please cease the #2 p4p BS, as well as the crap about him being #1 at SMW until he earns it?

I'm sure that is faaar too much to ask of several of you.

Is this guy for real or what? Wait wait wait...now this is the same guy calling out Kovalev and blasting GGG for the level of competition in his bouts? That, Andre Ward? The guy that can't carry a boxing event himself so he has to jump on someone else's coattails? What? I thought that he was going to make BET rise up the ranks of networks with his presence.

Andre Ward is a joke. Two fights in 3 years and neither fight against a top 10 contender for his belt. Strip the guy already.

Ward is maybe the biggest waste of talent in the modern era. Dude has the ability to be #1 P4P and he's gone like 3 years and counting now without a significant fight.

I remember an interview with Hunter a while back where he said he wanted Ward to have a couple tune-ups before going for big fights.

It's the level of opponent I would expect going off that interview. Provided you ignore all the big talk from Andre more recently (you have to take most of what he says with a pinch of salt).

As long as the fight after this is a big one I'm sure he will be forgiven.

I can't see why Ward would need two such weak opponents in a row. It's not doing anything to enhance his status or his ability to pull numbers.

As good as Ward is, he is dull to watch, and this kind of opponent isn't helping.

Lol we ain't worried. Dre is still gonna win and win and win, eventually he'll get Golovkin in there and he'll beat him too. This fight and the last one aren't good choices but the big fights will come. Ward will keep winning lol bank on that

If Ward toiled against Smith or looked rusty then maybe you can see his teams thinking before having a "big" fight but it was as if he's never been away, and i know dominating Paul Smith's no real statement at Andre's level but im not sure Periban's even better than Smith

Total waste of time fight

Big leap to say he will win. He runs his yap and fights recycled garbage.

Pathetic.

I have been a big supporter of SOGgy in the past but I'm tired of his excuses for his own poor decision making. He has literally wasted a significant portion of his prime, and now he will have wasted another year on recycled refuse.

Everyone knows that FMJ is going to defeat Berto. We expect FMJ's complete disregard for the industry and the fans. We were hoping for more from SOGgy.

Yes, my patience too is wearing thin now. Is he going to waste another 2 years of his career?

Christ, just looked if he fights once more this year (quite possible given where we are), that's 6 fights in the last 5 years!!! That's a travesty.

If it wasn't for the super 6 how long would it have taken him to get a big fight and a world title? No one would have gone to Oakland to defend there title in front of 6 people for no money, he has never seriously shown any intent on fighting away from home. The super 6 was the best thing to happen to him.
