Great fight. Yamanaka is a great champion and I think he will win but it should be a good test. I can see it being a fun fight.

Yamanaka wins via SPLIT decision 115-113 x2 judges. WOW. Close one! Can't wait to watch the fight once it becomes available.

Started at 11 UK time (7PM Tokyo)...was tactically tight early on and became sloppier in the later rounds. Some seem to have had it almost a shut out, others have it close. I could understand a draw but not sure how Yamanaka got the nod.

How did you score it BOXING PROSPECT?

The first 4 rounds could have gone either way, had them 38-38 though they were rounds where 10-10 could easily have been slipped in and 39-39 could well have been fine.
I had it 114-114 though know I'm in the minority
Interestingly Ludo Saenz (Notifight) had Yamanaka winning whilst a lot of Japanese fans had Moreno winning. Video will likely be available in a few hours.

Shinsuke Yamanaka 23 0 2
vs
Anselmo Moreno 35 3 1
Bantamweight
WBC World bantamweight title
Yamanaka won by SD

As expected Yamanaka adopted the winning gameplan of fighting it from outside the pocket with his busy jab and follow up straight lefts. That neutralised Moreno's counterpunching from the backfoot. Forced Moreno to try to land the lenghty left which was easier for Yamanaka to manoevre around. Still a VERY close fight but imo the jab from Yamanaka made the slight difference.

Think Yamanaka wins, stylistically however Moreno is trickier test for both Yamanaka and McDonnell. The guy is just so fornicating slipperyNaandrew wrote:Will try and watch this fight.

I like Yamanaka. Good solid fighter. Inoue looks good and gets the press. But for me Uchiyama is the best from Japan. I actually have him in my top 10 P4P and have done for a while. I try not to post that on many threads as I usually get slaughtered for it.Boxing Prospect wrote:The first 4 rounds could have gone either way, had them 38-38 though they were rounds where 10-10 could easily have been slipped in and 39-39 could well have been fine.

Absolutely no issue with Uchiyama in a top 10, his resume has a number of VERY good wins (Salgado, Miura, Solis, Vazquez) and some solid B tier wins (Jomthong and Kaneko). Skills wise he's pretty fornicating solid and that power! Wouldn't argue with anyone saying he's the best in Japan, though I'll admit I think Miura would win a rematchPredatorHayds wrote:I like Yamanaka. Good solid fighter. Re: Yamanaka vs Moreno on 2015/09/22 for Yamanaka's WBC bantamweight title
I have just watched the fight.
119-108 Moreno
I only gave round 2 for Yamanaka, I could give him round 4,5 and 10 and none more.
In round 11 Moreno knock down Yamanaka with a jab, it wasn't a slip, so it is 10-8 round.
I can understand a 116-111 Moreno, . Never a draw or Yamanaka winning. Moreno jab was always in the face of Yamanaka, for example round 7 for me is a one side round for Moreno, I don't see how Yamanaka wins it when he only landed two punches at the first minute and later nothing.

Got a feeling Uchiyama will do a Chris John and not fight abroad.
Miura hopefully takes the plunge and fights overseas.
Be a cracking re-match but I'm sticking with my boy Uchiyama

Miura is on the Cotto Vs Canelo card, he'll be fighting the very good Francisco Vargas. Also if you've not seen it, Miura Vs Sergio Thompson, in Mexico, is one of the best fights of the last few years, insane violence!
Re: Yamanaka vs Moreno on 2015/09/22 for Yamanaka's WBC bantamweight title
Some rounds were close but Moreno dominated the middle part of the fight and should have got the decision by a few rounds.
Only watched him v Mares a few years ago and don't remember him being special but at times during this fight he was pretty impressive.

Mares was much bigger and hustled/wrestled through the rounds, with a level playing field ion terms of size Moreno would hand him his assNaandrew wrote:Some rounds were close but Moreno dominated the middle part of the fight and should have got the decision by a few rounds.

I totally agree on all counts, bruv, it was eye-opening seeing Mares versus Santa-Cruz 'cos I remember thinking how big Mares looked at superbantam versus Moreno. Moreno must be fvcking tiny. Another guy fvcked by weight-draining...
PS: @ Naandrew: Moreno was well unfashionable, quite boring to watch but I guarantee you at one point he was the best bantamweight in the entire world. He's had more world title fights than you or I have had hot dinners, he's fought all over the world & ever since beating Sidorenko (I remember it was quite a big deal at the time) he's faced a murderer's row at bantam. Beat Sidorenko in a rematch, too. Not flashy or nuffink but a tricky, elusive, impossible-to-look-good-against spoiler.

And in that fight Moreno hurt mares much more (to the body round 11 I think it was) than mares ever fought him.

Course he is. Vargas is good . Saw him beat Tomlinson earlier in year and destroy a shadow of Juanma.Boxing Prospect wrote:Miura is on the Cotto Vs Canelo card, he'll be fighting the very good Francisco Vargas. Which one of the two have the Golden Boy backing? Really hope the fight gets televised.
