DeGale v Bute
Here we go again.
Our boys forced to do it the hard way.
Quebec City where Bute undefeated.
Why ?

I see Bute as easy work for DeGale whereever it takes place...
Re: DeGale v Bute
Just seems DeGale, for whatever reason, doesn't have the fan base here. I agree with the fella above, I think DeGale will box Butes head off and stop him mid to late rounds.

Re: DeGale v Bute
The question wasn't about the fight itself - I agree Degale should win - its why UK Promoters can't make these fights in the UK.
He's the champion.
Having said that it is in Quebec, he aint been beaten there and there'll be a partisan crowd.
That's what challengers do - not champs.

Re: DeGale v Bute
Because Al Haymon has decided that the fight will be in Canada, DeGale does what he says now so unfortunately there isn't much chance of him fighting here unless it's a big domestic fight, same goes for Selby.Parson Cross wrote:The question wasn't about the fight itself - I agree Degale should win - its why UK Promoters can't make these fights in the UK.

More money for James over there, against a guy he beats every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Why not take it?

Exactly. DeGale isn't a ticket seller in the UK anyway, it's not like he has many better options.MarkMcBurney wrote:More money for James over there, against a guy he beats every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Why not take it?

Re: DeGale v Bute
Well given the Sky tactics regarding ppv is this better worse or on a par with recent fayre being served up ?
All about the $
.... and I am 100% convinced that UK Promoters cannot deliver anymore.
Barker Brook Rose McDonnell Fury etc etc etc.
All on the road and luckily a few came through.
The only ones we see are Brit v Brit - easy to make, or Brit v Average.
Don't think we'll see big fights live in the UK for a long long time.

Can see this being on PPV too, same night as Klitschko-Fury.Parson Cross wrote:Well given the Sky tactics regarding ppv is this better worse or on a par with recent fayre being served up ?

Re: DeGale v Bute
Exactly what I was thinking but Eddie said there will only be 2 PPV's this year so which event will not be PPV? Brook-Chavez or AJ-Whyte?expe wrote:Can see this being on PPV too, same night as Klitschko-Fury.Parson Cross wrote:Well given the Sky tactics regarding ppv is this better worse or on a par with recent fayre being served up ?

Re: DeGale v Bute
If I had to pick one I'd say that Brook-Chaves will be the PPV, unless that gets moved to November 28th too, Sheffield Arena's booked up that night though so I'm not sure where they would put it on. Brook's more likely to leave than Joshua and probably on more money too.digzee wrote:Exactly what I was thinking but Eddie said there will only be 2 PPV's this year so which event will not be PPV? Re: DeGale v Bute
The problem is the Brook card is nowhere near PPV quality in terms of depth and there isn't enough time to get big fights made on there, at least with the AJ-Whyte card they have time to 'stack' the card. Surely they will sell enough tickets to pay off Kell and Chavez and with SKY's money they give Matchroom for a Saturday show that would be enough to pay the undercard fighters...

Brook v Chaves will 100% be PPV, they won't back down now as it's already being advertised as a PPV. Joshua vs Whyte has never been officially confirmed as PPV, so that will be the one to go.

Nobody can compete with Big Al.
Re: DeGale v Bute
Meh fight, Froch battered Bute to a pulp and in the process set the blue print how to beat him. DeGale has the power to get at Bute and cause him nightmares. DeGale wins by stoppage in the second half of the fight.

Re: DeGale v Bute
DeGale just isn't a draw on his own, his main chance to get a big money UK fight is still Groves, though now the situation is what it is in that regard, would JD entertain the idea?
Re: DeGale v Bute
There's nothing in Degales arsenal to suggest he can execute the gameplan Froch did that night, absolutely nothing.brian13 wrote:Meh fight, Froch battered Bute to a pulp and in the process set the blue print how to beat him. I fancy Degale to get the win, but it's not because of styles, it's because Bute is damaged goods.
a couple years back I'd have been leaning towards Bute for this fight.
Degale is a very good fighter but I just see no way he can steamroller Bute the way Froch did.
That's not to say he can't get the stoppage but If he doesn't get him out of there and is too relaxed he runs the risk of a bad away decision.
He has the ability to beat him, but if he starts this nonsense of trying to coast through rounds, I can see him making this fight a lot harder than it should be.
Re: DeGale v Bute
I'd not be shocked if Bute won this, especially if Marlon Starling is the referee.
If he gets the gig I'd boycott it if I was degale.
I can see it being a messy affair with their southpaw styles not really meshing well. Heads catching etc, as Degale likes to slip and slide a lot.

Re: DeGale v Bute
It's a good fight against a legitimate world class boxer and in his own home town its a big move by Degale's people and show's he's willing to challenge the odds, I'm glad Degale is progressing in the right way like he is

Re: DeGale v Bute
I think DeGale stops him. He hits deceptively hard and is full of confidence. Despite switching off in some of the rounds against Dirrell, I thought he beat him better than Froch did, and away from home too. It's a good fight for him because Bute is known on the other side of the pond. Seems like DeGale will do it the Khan way and get big fights, but only stateside (will be rewarded handsomely for it, though).
Re: DeGale v Bute
Bute is 35, well past it but still a big draw in his hometown.
I dont agree with Champions having to travel, but as said above should be an easy enough fight for Degale. I can see a late stoppage or a landslide points win.

Re: DeGale v Bute
I'm surprised that Bute is considered a legitimate contender any more, no matter where in the world the fight is held.
