Japanese Middleweight Murata

Post by N2 Shape »

Former Olympic Gold Medalist Murata. Currently 7-0 as a pro what are your thoughts on him to date? Looks as though he'll eventually slide into the Super Middleweight division as most his fights to date have been just above the Middleweight limit.

Basic but very strong, tough and with a good work rate, also hits harder than his record suggests. He can look one places a lot of the time but showed last time out that there is a other gear there.

He makes his US debut in November and that should tell us a lot about him, my guess is that he'll be matched "well" for that bout with the hope being that they can develop him into a contender by summer.

He could win a world title, but probably not whilst Golovkin is running the division. It's pretty unlikely he'll move to 168 that soon though. Japanese promoters typically contract the bouts one or two lbs over a limit
