Waleed Din on Fish, Chips And Scraps
Waleed Din on Fish, Chips And Scraps
As Waleed Din is fighting Thomas Essomba on Spike TV on the 17th October, should we all make a pact to eat Fish and Chips on the day?

I couldn't work out if the fish chips and scraps angle was like ironically, intentionally bad, or if it was just a sxxt idea.

Not sure either.
After Ross Burkinshaw vs Klaas Mboyane, I wrote an e-mail to Channel 5 politely saying that I think the direction they took with it was a mistake. Having Rugby League players and other assorted comedians get pissed and talk about boxing, and then having a guy walking in dressed as a butler in an attempt at humour made a mockery of the sport. At least that's what I felt at the time. Since then, Spike put on a couple of domestic cards where the main event was on Channel 5, and were more professional.
Nav Mansouri vs Sam Sheedy went back to being a F, C & S and I groaned. But they'd got rid of the fish and chip eating, the beer drinking, the butler and the only attempt at humour was when they were sat there playing Top Trumps. (Which did at least facilitate boxing discussion.)
I think they were going for laddish banter, and overshot it the first time. They were under the impression that only hardcore boxing fans would order the Kell Brook PPV, so made their show more laddish in an attempt to get casuals into it. However, they misunderstood that PPVs are marketed heavily at casual fans, and it was only hardcore boxing fans that would know Ross was fighting on an almost brand new freeview channel. As a result, the majority of their audience were wondering what the feck was going on.

Al Haymon has just seen said episode and has bought the patent for all future PBC shows to be fish chips and scraps.

BIG NEW DEVELOPMENT!
The Spike TV website isnt referring to next week's boxing as Fish, Chips And Scraps. It's calling it Sports Lab Boxing.
What the fornicate? They're not going to be eating Chips? They're going to be doing science experiments instead?

Ive only seen Din once i think, cant remember much about him but the statistics are good,he's not been tested but he's only had 7 fights and Essomba has only had 6 so its a great oppurtunity to pick up the Commonwealth title for Waleed
I'll watch this sunday morning on channel 5 On Demand online
