Aron Martinez upsets Alexander

Post by kidbazooka1 »

Alexander might be done as a top fighter martinez out worked him in a well deserved win.

Glad to see Martinez not get robbed this time around.

Alexander sucks but those 2 7 to 3 scorecards for Martinez are beyond absolutely ridiculous.

I had it 96-94 Alexander. Was shocked to hear Martinez's name get called.

Martinez swept the last 5 rds and some of the early rds were close and could have went either way.

But Martinez wanted it more and showed it.

Anything less than a draw for Alexander is a crap decision. Scoring any of those first five rounds for Martinez is just not sensible.

Alexander deserved to lose the guy didn't want it that pitty pat crap should never cut it.

Martinez worked him in the last 5 rds and closed the show like a winner.

I dont disagree but we gotta score the rounds individually. There wasnt much doubt for me Alexander won those first 5 rounds. Sure what we remember is him closing so terribly in the last 4-5 rounds but that doesnt erase that he almost surely won those first 5 rounds.

Martinez won his rds more convincingly than Devon.

A draw is no biggie so either guy winning wouldn't have been a shock.

What was a shock was that the judges were fair and awarded Martinez the rds he deserved.

You give Martinez any of the first 5 rounds?

A few early rds were very close and could have gone to Martinez though i narrowly gave them to devon.

Martinez on the other hand won his rds pretty convincingly.

So i could clearly see the judges giving Martinez a rd or two of those early ones.

With that said i was actually one of Devons bigger supporters around here a few yrs back but man has he regressed. Martinez like i keep mentioning deserved the win.

The odds on this fight were insane. -5000 to -7000. The books clearly thought Alexander's speed would be too much for Martinez and Devon wouldn't go to war with him like Guerrero did. However, the books underestimated the size of Alexander's brain. It is extremely small and he fights like an imbecile. Ironically, Alexander spent the pre-fight interview talking about how smart a fighter he is - which might be up there for comedic statement of the year. A real laugh riot. If he had brain one in his head he would spend that entire fight jabbing and moving and using his speed advantages. He instead chose to brawl on the inside with a guy that can do nothing but brawl. A real rocket scientist, this one.

Devon Alexander is what you get when you have a whole bunch of talent but no desire or heart to compete anymore. Those uncomfortable moments in the corner with his trainer should tell you all you need to know about DA. It's time to retire and find something else to do before he gets hurt.

Yeah I watched it. Definitely a bit of an upset, but a deserved one. It was a bout of 2 halves, the first few rounds I give to Alexander, but as the fight went on Martinez strongly came to the fore. For me, Devon let it slip, he didn't keep the up the workrate and he got very lazy in the mid to late rounds.

All in all, a very winnable fight for Aexander which he let go.

Nice to see Aron Martinez receive fair officiating this time. :TU:

He was robbed in his fight before this one.
