Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
Danny Green wants to end career with Anthony Mundine rematch - his idea to make it happen
http://www.foxsports.com.au/us-sports/d ... 7587005559
DANNY Green says a multimillion-dollar rematch with Anthony Mundine is at the top of his bucket list.
Mundine was victorious in their super-middleweight bout nine years ago but with the public desperate for a sequel, Green believes it’s just a matter of time.
While the 42-year-old has options to fight in America and Europe if a deal can’t be brokered with Mundine, when asked by foxsports.com.au what’s left to mark off his career bucket list, Green didn’t hesitate in declaring: “The rematch with Mundine.”
“It’s no secret that’s why I’m making sure I’m keeping in as good shape as I can be fight-wise if the fight happens,” he said.
“We’re prize fighters. We fight to get paid and it’s not just the PPV, it’s the fact that is a fight the people are calling to see. They’ve called for it for almost 10 years.”
In a recent interview, Mundine claimed for a rematch to take place the weight would have to be agreed on, drug testing would need to take place and he wants Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to recognise indigenous people on the Australian flag.
Since their first contest, Green has jumped two divisions to cruiserweight and Mundine has dropped down two to super-welterweight.
While the weight they would fight at for the rematch remains a hot topic of discussion, Green says he has a simple solution.
“He’s banging on about the weight difference. He’s a pussycat compared to the monsters I’ve been fighting,” he said.
“I’m fighting guys who are heavyweights coming down to cruiserweight, big men who have got that weight to lose.
“He played his rugby league career at 90 kilograms, heavier than I’ve ever been in my life.
“Physically, naturally he was bigger than I’ve ever been. He walks around at 78 kilograms when he’s off, he puts on two or three kilos, I come down three or four kilos and meet in the middle – game on.”
It’s anticipated that a rematch would easily topple that number but Green warns time is running out.
“Both of us haven’t got long in this sport left,” Green said.
“It doesn’t make sense why a guy who says he’s a prize fighter and wants the biggest fights out there is running from the biggest fight that’s right in front of him.
“On an international scale the fight is fairly insignificant but domestically it’s the biggest fight ever.”
Asked whether a fight with Mundine would be the final chapter in his career he replied: “Yeah, I’m 42.”

Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
What happened to nagging ex-wife looking for a pay out, Mundine is now insignificant, Emphatically ruling out a rematch when Mundine thought he won in the Geale rematch. Danny Green has zero honour.

Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
Hoping it happens before I croak & prepared to blow $100+ on ppv
Don't know why anyone would bother entertaining this topic & other....cos it's simply media CRAP, which naturally both enjoy

Possibly but it won't be 1/2 as profitable as the 1st fight.bogan whisperer wrote:Plenty of reasons this fight will happen $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
So Danny Greeny wants to fight ANOTHER smaller man but now 4 weight divisions lower than himself. Typical Greeny.
Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
That's how Greeny rolls. Hopefully the Montenegrin garbage man can cause an upset. SRL comes back after 3 years off and fights Hagler,VK comes back after 4 years off and fights Samuel Peter for the HW title. Danny Green comes back after 3 years off and fights LHW's ranked 100+ 7kg above there normal weight while calling out a JMW.Francis75 wrote:So Danny Greeny wants to fight ANOTHER smaller man but now 4 weight divisions lower than himself. Boxing is littered with failed comebacks. Most of them because they took on too difficult an opponent first up. Here are but three of them:DA GOOSE wrote:That's how Greeny rolls. Rick Hatton came back and fought Vyacheslav Senchenko, and lost.
Jimmy Carrothers came back and fought Aldo Pravisani, and lost.
Muhammad Ali came back and fought Larry Holmes, and lost.
Better to start with an easier opponent and win, than bite off more than you can chew and lose.

Hatton,Caruthers and Ali have the respect of the boxing community Green does not. But I agree with what you say another example Paul Briggs came back against Danny Green and lost.

About 9,000 people went and saw Green's last fight. Plenty of respect there and they paid plenty of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to see the fight too.DA GOOSE wrote:Hatton,Caruthers and Ali have the respect of the boxing community Green does not. Green is probably Australia's most popular boxer at the present time.
Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
Casuals, but their money spends the same as anyone so good luck to Green. But the opponent is ordinary, the match up and catchweight is ordinary, everything about this fight is ordinary. I mean Andre Ward is fighting a stiff at LHW whose normally SMW but that's a undercard fight on a stacked card. Green vs Konrad is a headline act and the undercard looks ordinary to boot.bogan whisperer wrote:About 9,000 people went and saw Green's last fight. Nobody is forcing you to go or watch it. There will be thousands paying to watch it because Green is extremely popular. Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen

that's all their driven by and u can see it yourself.
so they can spew constant hate but I can't make a comment about it? c'mon lets be fair anton.
and u allow the rubbish to ruin every one of these topics.
we cannot have one of these topics without them getting locked. not a single one.
and its the same people with the same agenda ruining it for the normal people who want to have a simple boxing discussion without the childish nonsense.
is it really that much to ask?

Not sure what you are saying here? what has Mundines thoughts on the Geale fight got to do with anything. (if it's a joke and I missed it I apologise).DA GOOSE wrote:What happened to nagging ex-wife looking for a pay out, Mundine is now insignificant, Emphatically ruling out a rematch when Mundine thought he won in the Geale rematch. I agree with Danny on one thing, If people want to put down their money to watch the two of them fight, no matter how insignificant it is on the world scene then it should just be a straight up business decision for them. I think it would be of zero interest outside of Australia and I might consider going to a pub to see it if it was a good undercard.
I am going to the upcoming Mundine fight in Melbourne but If I don't see a dominant performance from Anthony then he might want to take Green and then retire

You take boxing trash talk way too seriously and for some reason are absolutely fixated with everything Danny Green says or does.DA GOOSE wrote:What happened to nagging ex-wife looking for a pay out, Mundine is now insignificant, Emphatically ruling out a rematch when Mundine thought he won in the Geale rematch. Boxers have been trash talking each other since the beginning of time and it is usually more about roping an opponent into fighting them and selling tickets to it than anything else
Re: Green vs Mundine - Green has idea how to make it happen
No mate I meant what Danny said after Mundine ridiculously thought he won the 2nd Geale fight.Grant wrote:Not sure what you are saying here? what has Mundines thoughts on the Geale fight got to do with anything. Green hits out at Mundine
February 1, 2013 5:54am
By Sportal
Danny Green has labelled Anthony Mundine 'a cat' and suggested he must have been drinking 'moonshine' to believe he won the IBF middleweight crown from Daniel Geale.
Danny Green has labelled Anthony Mundine 'a cat' and suggested he must have been drinking 'moonshine' to believe he won the IBF middleweight crown from Daniel Geale.
As the Mundine camp continued to protest the 'injustice' of Wednesday night's unanimous points decision loss to Geale, Green predicted it would spell the end of the former NRL star's boxing career.
The three-time world champion Green emphatically ruled out a re-match with Mundine, who beat him on points in 2006, and doubts anyone else will step into the ring with his long-time foe.
"He's boxed himself into a corner where no-one likes him, he's got nowhere to go and has no respect from the community and the people, and no respect from the boxing world," Green told Fox Sports.
"Gealey's not a big puncher and Choc (Mundine) still didn't take any risks.
"He had to take risks but he's too afraid. He's a cat and now he's licking his paws and probably got a headache from all the moonshine he drunk (sic) after the fight."
Asked if he would ever consider fighting Mundine again, Green said: "I've moved onwards and upwards since then (2006) and won three world titles and knocked out a future hall of famer, in most people's eyes, in Roy Jones Jnr in one round.
"So for me that's my legacy world-wide as a fighter.
"People respect me for having a go. I've taken on some big names and had a dig and knocked some out and been knocked out.
"I'm happy where I am and have moved on a long time ago.
"My legacy will completely outshine Choc's more and more as the future goes on."
Green sees nothing but blue sky ahead for former Olympic Games team-mate Geale, who will now fight the winner of the Felix Sturm-Sam Soliman IBF eliminator.
Bigger fights then await him in the shape of Sergio Martinez or Gennady Golovkin.
"The sky's the limit for him. He's a class act, he's a good kid," Green said of Geale.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there it is he won't fight Mundine again. Mundine's a cat.
And again in interviews.

Oh well no chance Green will call out the cat again he's moved onwards and upwards.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmu_wOuG9Ok
Zero honour. Zero credibility. He's lucky he lives in Australia and has a hated sportsman like Mundine whose name he can live off.
