Who you rooting for? #CottoCanelo

Post by Ricky_ »

Who you rooting for, and why?

I quite like both guys to be honest, they come to fight. Cotto certainly seems much more the diva, and his catchweight bs from his stint at mw certainly strikes me as a guy who's above his station, but never-the less, i think there's a lot more class to his style, his left hook which has been reinvigorated by Roach is a joy to watch. That's why i'm rooting for Cotto.

I would like a scenario with Cotto winning and GGG getting the WBC title, but Cotto is a bigger diva than Canelo, so I think he needs to be thoroughly punished and retired. There is still a chance that Canelo disobeys DLH (realizing that ducking GGG will not go well with Mexican fans) and fights Golovkin.

I'd like to see Cotto win actually. Though truth is, he won't fight GGG if he does.

I don't really care who wins although I do want Canelo to put in a great performance (win or lose) more than I want Cotto to - but that's just because he'll be around for another half a dozen years and him being a top fighter is good for the sport.

So in dreamworld a close exciting Cotto win with Canelo winning the rematch sounds good to me.

I can not knock Canelo too much. 155 catch weight annoys me, but its only a single pound, so I am willing to over look it.

Cotto as well, since he was stripped of the belt he did not deserve, I dont have much to knock him any more.

I'll go with Canelo, because of his youth.

I have a lot of respect for both fighters. This is a case of simply "May the best man win" for me.

I don;t know what world you live in.But Canelo can not disobey Oscar.
Oscar owns him.Oscar will have to agree to it or it will not happen

DeLaHoya wouldn't hesitate matching Canelo with Golovkin. He was never a ducker as a fighter, ducking and cherry picking isn't his nature.

He has stated numerous times the fight will not happen for a couple of years.

I like both fighters but I'm leaning towards Canelo. Better for boxing in the long run imo.

Didn't Oscar not want Canelo to fight Lara but Canelo insisted?

I agree with you 100%, he could have steered Lemieux away from GGG for a few easy defences but they went straight in. Canelo wanted to fight Lara even though it was obvious he's stylistically a nightmare to face and hard to look good against as well. Oscar is a lot of things but he isn't a ducker.

Let's be honest, lads, we have no idea what will happen after this fight.

A boxer may say I won't fight him or I won't fight at this weight but once the dollars are dangled things change pretty quickly.

Thats a fair point.

Imo Cotto will never face Golovkin. Too old for that shit and by the catchweight demands he clearly knows his limits.

Canelo will fight Golovkin regardless if he wins or loses vs Cotto.

Cotto because he is on his way out of the game and Canelo would still have plenty of time to continue getting better and have big fights down the line. If Miguel loses then this could be the end of him.

Tough one for me.
I'm a big fan of the Mexicans much like many others, how can you not love their attitude toward the sport they're incredible collectively.
But I have a genuine soft spot for Miguel who as we know he got ripped off in Vegas due to Margo's antics but reversed that in New York both of which I attended.
The Ricans are game as hell too so I'm torn.
If pushed I'll cheer for Cotto but I think I'm going to sit back and enjoy this one because when these two countries normally come together at the high level it's likely going to be a good fight.
It's a win win for us [boxing] all around and the match up is a beaut.

Cotto's star power has never been brighter than it is right now and I find it hilarious. He's had two fights in the last 25 months and beaten a punching bag in Geale and an old broken down HOF boxer in Sergio. How in the world have you all fallen for this one? It's the same Cotto that has lost every big fight he's been in. The same narcissist that refers to himself in the third person in interviews while explaining why he doesn't need boxing.

I'm not buying the Roach thing. It's the same Cotto, they just redesigned the box he comes in. Luckily, i'm not too high on Canelo either. He too is overrated in my opinion so maybe these two fabricated phonies will put on a good show. They should have promoted this fight as De Nada in Nevada because the winner of this fight still stinks.

Canelo Alvarez.

It's better for the sport of boxing if he wins.
