Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
In the paper today that former Commonwelath champion Lee 'the Aberdeen Assassin' McAllister has landed himself in the big house with the wee windows for assaulting some fella in a kebab shop breaking his jaw. Seems a strange one that he got 9 months? Is this because he is an ex boxer or has he been in bother before?

Who knows....but I know they always hit boxers harder with the jail time. Not fair at all. Wouldn't be surprised to see the usual quotes surrounding, ''your fists are deadly weapons". Still 9 months isn't too bad. I dunno how it works in Scotland but here he'd do 4 and a half for that.

To be fair, commonwealth champs shouldn't be brawling in chippys. Regardless of provocation. You punch people in the face, you go to prison.
Tell you what tho, I wouldn't wanna be his cell mate, that lad talked for Great Britain!

Its the injuries, not the venue that influenced the jail time. Broken jaw is a GBH. Would he have got 9 if he wasnt a boxer? No chance.FrozenMixedVegtables wrote:9 months for a chip shop fightCharlesListon wrote:Who knows....but I know they always hit boxers harder with the jail time. Not fair at all. I read this in the paper today,i didnt even know he was charged with this,he was a good fighter,2 weight Commonwealth champ but had bad luck with injuries
I remember him giving Murray all sorts of problems early on before getting a bit too brave for his own good, played right into John hands who was a monster at the time

McAllister should have smacked his barber.
Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
I faced the exact same charge years ago and only got community service, fine and compensation on top of that. I was 21 and had never been in trouble with the law before though so that's why I was wondering if he had previous. Seems a bit excessive for a drunken ding dong in a kebab shop! The guys mum had just passed as well so you would think any half decent lawyer would've been able to get him a far more lenient punishment (unless his lawyer was David Brent!).CharlesListon wrote:Who knows....but I know they always hit boxers harder with the jail time. boxers or trained fighters hands are treated as weapons i thought.

I remember that fight too mate. Think it was on one of the ITV channels? He was doing really well. After it in the interview he said 'we would both beat Khan'. Was always a bit of a rent-a-gub!handsofstone wrote:I read this in the paper today,i didnt even know he was charged with this,he was a good fighter,2 weight Commonwealth champ but had bad luck with injuries

Some magistrates and judges do not look at late night violence leniently and also see alcohol not as a mitigating factor but as a further incriminating issue. Though there are sentencing guidelines a lot still depends on who you are in front of and what kind of day they're having. Been in the nick over Christmas is rough but with a broken jaw his victim is likely to get his turkey when McAllister gets out.

My dad actually fought their dad twice in the ams
Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
Yeah his brother is still undefeated. Seen him fight at a show in Paisley last year. Decent enough. Fight was pretty uneventful if I remember correctly. Banged up in the Jimmy Nail over Xmas is a sore one. I'm sure Lee helped promote his brother. He's put a few shows on under his own promotional banner.handsofstone wrote:ITV thats right mate, his brother David posts on here and comes across well, other bro Matty is a pro but havent heard of him much latelyStuarty30 wrote:I remember that fight too mate. My cousin got and served 18 months for breaking a mans jaw in a nightclub and he's a plumber so Lee can count himself lucky.CharlesListon wrote:Its the injuries, not the venue that influenced the jail time. Pal of mine got time and a life ban from Fa football for breaking someone's jaw. Lad threw the first punch at him too but that didn't make a difference as the damage was so severe

I think some of these cases depend on the defendants attitude in court. If it was a single punch and they can show genuine remorse, the judge can go easy. Some people can't seem to get the remorse part of it over to the judge and jury though.

Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
Just read he had 2 previous convictions for assault. The sheriff also mentioned that he was a boxer, should have realised his fists were weapons etc.
Overall 9mths is pretty lenient.

Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
Was gonna say, pretty sure I remember a story about McAllister being in trouble before.
Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
I dare say the punishment handed down wasn't helped by the fact the fella he punched, had a broken jaw.
I also read in the local paper (I'm also from Aberdeen) that the Judge took a dim view that Lee was a Pro Boxer.

Not excusing the accused, but if he didn't know how to throw a punch then it would've been a scuffle and that would've been the end of it.
Obviously the heat of the moment, if you know how to throw a punch go for the body. It winds the other guy and ends the problem

Re: Lee McAllister Jailed for Assault
Professional boxers have a responsibility, the victim may have provoked the situation but he shouldn't have been there in the first place
