Fury vs Klitschko a second viewing.

I know there are numerous threads going on about Fury / Joshua etc - but I thought maybe now the hype is kind of wearing down a bit on the Fury victory that we could possibly reflect a bit more on his performance, particularly if you have been brave enough to watch it again.

I watched it again with my old man present last week - who generally knows his boxing, but also is a bit old school in the "got to rip the belt of the champion". We scored it independently and I have to say on second viewing I scored the fight a hell of a lot closer than watching it live (I had Fury by 3 live), I had it Fury by 1 and my old man had it a draw and is quite adamant that Fury didn't do enough to "win the title" - okay, for me I didn't agree with the old man.... but I have to say my opinion did change quite a bit.

Klitschko was absolutely terrible, there was really no excuse how bad he was - but Fury also at times was so amateurish in there. He telegraphed the wide clubbing shots so amateurish that Stallone would have cringed if that a choreographed fight. After watching it live I the thought of a rematch wasn't that appealing cos I thought Fury had his number - now I am not that sure. If that was really the best of Fury, then I do think we might need to slow down on the hype of a "new era" - although the HW scene is shite on reflection I am not convinced that Fury is much better than the likes of a peak Frans Botha, John Ruiz, Frank Bruno and the other poorer champions we have had. Seeing it again, I think I'd make Klitschko a slight favourite in Germany.

Also Glenn McCory's card was a bit of a shambles also, he gave the last round to Tyson! and he said he was going to half way through the round! So in essence he gave it to Fury to avoid a draw - no way Fury won that round.

Fury deserved the nod ,, of that theres no doubt whatsoever ,,, but no way was it a masterclass performance , more a case of Vlad losing than Tyson winning , Vlad just did'nt do anything .. Ok some may argue and i conmcede that Fury did'nt give him an opportunity but heh on that performance , the fury and Vlad that turned up for that fight would of both been stopped by the aj that turned up yesterday .

Christ, we're all talking about the shortcomings of AJ against a crude domestic level banger and you think he knock out the 2 best heavyweights on the planet (which Wlad and Fury are without a question right now)

Fury still looks rough around the edges and is by no means the finished article but he looks like he might be very hard to beat if he sticks to a game plan.
And Wlad is still a top heavyweight, who had a bad night partly down to his own over cautious approach and partly down to Fury fighting a clever fight.

Joshua will most likely reach that level but one thing Saturday surely taught us is he's got a way to go before he even thinks about climbing through the ropes for fight of this caliber

Punch stats also state differently if you are scoring on aggression, punches thrown and landed.

Klitschko landed 52 of 231 thrown over 12 rounds compared to Fury who landed 86 of 371 thrown.

I watched it again with no sound and had it Fury by 2/3 rounds.

Wasn't even close in my opinion - Wlad was clueless because of what Fury presented.

Fury was pretty feeble too but i still had him winning wide,imm a massive admirer of Klitschko's achievements and his longevity but if thats what he's got to offer these days then im glad he's been dethroned,maybe he does have a Pulev type of performance in him who knows but he was shockinly lame last week

Fury's feet won him the fight more than his hands,the punch output from both guys was embarrising,i know people say thats how the HW's fight but take a look at AJ/Whyte

I agree McCrory scoring the last round to Tyson was scoring at its very worst

Fury won big, it wasn't close at all.
