Eddie Bowen according to Ancestry.com was born on December 6, 1904 in Scranton, Pennsylvania (not New Castle, Pennsylvania - although his parents lived there later). Social Security death records indicate he died in October 1985 (SSN death records do not provide specific death dates) and is buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Prince George's County, Maryland. His place of death was Washington, DC. I took a special interest and researched the life of Eddie Bowen because his third 1924 bout with my Uncle Ray Schauer was career changing for both boxers. That bout was the beginning of a rapid downward slide, boxing retirement at the age of 27, and a lifetime of brain damage for my Uncle Ray. Eddie Bowen's victory, which led to his four bouts with Mike O'Dowd, started his status as a losing club fighter and his boxing retirement at the age of 27 also. Boxing was a tough game.
