Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/_/id ... -advantage
Team Golovkin offered about $3.2m (or 2.2m British pounds) according to Dan Rafael, yet Saunders wants MORE or requests Golovkin to come to england with the same amount of money (Or demand Less at least)
The amount of money is just ABSURD considering BJS has NEVER EVER even made half of that.No middleweight in the past 5 years has been payed that amount except Chavez jr vs Sergio Martinez ($3m)
Im sure when and IF BJS losses he will regret not taking this fight (If he doesnt). Its really so arrogant of hm asking so much money he doesnt really deserve.

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
He should take the money and see what he can do.
Martin Murray got another world title shot later in the year after his respectable performance against Golovkin.
Saunders doesn't have to retire if he loses, so he should take the money.

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
yep take the money then drop down to light middle after.
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
There's nothing official about it, just another article.
It's obviously enough to warrant further negotiation, but as has already been said, it isn't enough to make the fight happen.

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
if it is true and saunders doesn't take it then I don't know why the hell he is in the game.
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
He's in it for money like everyone else, he'll take the route that pays best, right now with what's on the table, that doesn't include fighting Golovkin.littlepug wrote:if it is true and saunders doesn't take it then I don't know why the hell he is in the game.

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
The $3.2m figure is not official, the article itself uses the language "an offer believed to be".
Saunders claims they offered him less money than he'd get for a Eubank rematch. Not sure how much that is. Maybe a Eubank rematch is super lucrative in the UK?

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
If the offer is real he should take the fight. Fighters can injure themselves in and out of the ring at any moment. A bad cut, a poor decision and you've lost that paper title.
£2M is probably more than he'll get for wining his next 4 fights...

Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
believe it or not most top fighters also care about their legacy/resume, if he misses out on fighting golovkin (win, lose or draw) he will be kicking himself after he retires if the best name on his record ends up being andy lee.expe wrote:He's in it for money like everyone else, he'll take the route that pays best, right now with what's on the table, that doesn't include fighting Golovkin.littlepug wrote:if it is true and saunders doesn't take it then I don't know why the hell he is in the game.

Who is Saunders going to fight to make his money then?expe wrote:He's in it for money like everyone else, he'll take the route that pays best, right now with what's on the table, that doesn't include fighting Golovkin.
Risk vs reward wise I don't think this Golovkin fight is a bad option.
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
30-40,000 crowd and PPV probably pays him in a similar region to what he's been offered for this. He was getting 7 figures for the proposed rematch last summer that fell through and that was without PPV and a world title. Add in the purse for a defence before that and defences after if he wins, which I believe he would, or a rematch if he lost and there's more money in that route than taking an almost certain loss to fight Golovkin. The offer being for the fight in the US doesn't help either because Jimmy Tibbs can't get a visa and if he's going to have any chance, he needs him in the corner.jujigatame wrote:The $3.2m figure is not official, the article itself uses the language "an offer believed to be".

He's got two kids and very limited education, his first priority is always going to be to secure his future and put money in the bank.littlepug wrote:believe it or not most top fighters also care about their legacy/resume, if he misses out on fighting golovkin (win, lose or draw) he will be kicking himself after he retires if the best name on his record ends up being andy lee.expe wrote:He's in it for money like everyone else, he'll take the route that pays best, right now with what's on the table, that doesn't include fighting Golovkin.littlepug wrote:if it is true and saunders doesn't take it then I don't know why the hell he is in the game.

He's apparently getting offered millions to fight Golovkin.expe wrote:He's got two kids and very limited education, his first priority is always going to be to secure his future and put money in the bank.
If he's worried about securing his future then he should take the largest amount of money for his next fight that is offered.
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
..if this info is true, he's offered a lot of money, more than he's ever got, and the chance to fight probably the best MW there is, beat him and make history...So, why would anyone refuse?
... either he's not prepared to take the challenge or he's got a better deal...in that case I would like to know what that might be...
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
Wasn't the "crowd" about 4000 against Lee ?expe wrote:30-40,000 crowd and PPV probably pays him in a similar region to what he's been offered for this. BJS can easily lose a rematch against Eubank Jr and I doubt that he can make more than $500k against opponents he can safely beat. Losing to Golovkin is way better than losing to Eubank.
Also, taking into account Billy's drawing "power", I am not sure why he wants to fight in England. He gets stopped anyway. Golovkin can easily pack a 20k venue in America, but I am not sure if he can in England.
Re: Golovkin offered BJS $3.2m [OFFICIAL]
6k for Lee, 18k for the first Eubank fight, plus everyone that got in without tickets. Saunders on his own won't sell big and neither will Eubank, but put the two of them together and they'll have a huge crowd in.ikorolev wrote:Wasn't the "crowd" about 4000 against Lee ?expe wrote:30-40,000 crowd and PPV probably pays him in a similar region to what he's been offered for this. He can easily win the fight too and if he gets beat, they'll have a third fight and he'll get another big payday. Same reward for fighting Eubank as Golovkin, for much less risk, not hard to see which fight is the better option for him.

that money wont change if Saunders fights now or fights GGG in 3 fights time.
If he loses to GGG he loses value, if he rematches Eubank jr now (and wins again) and fights a couple of US middleweights upping his profile in the States his value cannot go down...
I would love to see -
May 5th - Hugo Centeno jr or Omar Chavez
August - Chris Eubank jr 2
Dec - US Fighter (Douglas/Johnson/Wade)
2017 - Canelo or GGG

Honestly who or what idiot would say that when the facts are in our faces?? I have never heard PQ call him out and for that matter no other MW has called him out either, for anyone to not know this then they must be living under a rock.Aaronide_ger wrote:1st Defense against Omar LFMAO!!! Saunders hasn't done that yet.ikorolev wrote:Pricing yourself out is a way of avoiding.
Golovkin has fought plenty of the top middleweight in the last few years.
Golovkin is not really a fighter that is avoided.

Quillin,Jacobs, Chavez Jr and many others, you pick. I agree with Ikey, pricing yourself out especially when you've never earned that type of money before is avoiding him.Horse wrote:Who's avoiding him?Aaronide_ger wrote:Then they say GGG isnt avoided SMH
