The biggest devo in boxing

Post by Bricks »

Whose the biggest devo going in boxing?

A bloke who makes out hes ace but has let ya down? Who makes out hes gonna come good, has you thinking bloody oath ,and putting the bloody house and sheila on him winning the big fight.....than puts in a bodgy performance and leaves you with a dingos breakfast ,and drinking with the flies?

Whose a bloody devo whose taken decent tucker off your table?

Right,whata you blokes reckon?

Your not suggesting Geale fits into this category are you? The guy needs a medal for stepping in against Cotto so weight drained (or better management) and he fought GGG when no one else was in a rush to. He should be congratulated for always stepping up. At the same time he was always humble and spoke very well not talking himself up too much. If you thought of betting your house and sheila on either of those fights Id be very surprised.

Jeff Fenech used to be full of it, that is until Azumah Nelson shut his mouth. One of my favourite stoppages that one.

how you can put Geale in that category , he fought a fighter who had knocked out just about every opponent he fought and Cotto was a great fighter,Danny has been beaten by two of the best fighters going around you
are either a dill or just throwing some bait out, Geale is a credit to the game, if you are looking for a few suspects here is my pick, Roy Jones.J v Danny Green, Shane Mosely v A. Mundine, all the best :TU:

Well I did hear Geale this and Geale that right here on our forum but since hes lost to very good fighters it's been excuses.

Devo? Well he does fit the description.

At one stage, yeah. He looked promising but he had no heart.

Agree.
He came up short whilst others might have made a good payday shopping his IBF title around lo lesser fighters. was it IBF? can't remember. (just covering my arse)

I find Geale being mentioned as a "devo" pretty strange. By definition a Devo is ""A bloke who makes out hes ace ....
I never got the feeling Geale made out he was ace, hence why he was prepared to take challenge after challenge. Would've been easy for him to back pedal after a loss and pad his record but he never did that, he stepped staright back up to the plate. I never heard him talking himself up as the greatest and his record is commendable.
I thought he would perform better against the elite competition than he did but in such a strong division it wasn't surprising he came up short - with or without valid excuses !!

Well, we've interpreted it differently, haven't we? I would think ace would be telling fans they're "all good" and/or have fixed some previous flaws. I probably shouldn't have put Geale vs GGG, as i think that was the fight that he worked out he had poor ticker. I was convinced, considering he readily took the fight with Cotto, that he had worked on his ticker. I excitedly sat down at the local pub to watch Geale in a fight that i eagerly told people he could win, yet left with a bitter taste in my mouth when he quit AGAIN!

Geale would have to be one of the most modest, mild mannered boxers ever to strap a world title belt around his waist. Let alone two of them.

Geale earned his shots at GGG and Cotto. Didnt fill his record with fluff to inflate his rating, didnt promote himself himself with with hot air, the only media attention he received is for what he achieved in the ring. Cant believe he faced the most feared boxer today and one of the most accomplished in recent history and still gets hacked. Its shameful.

Francis, still with the same one note song for so many years now. You must be the life of the party mate.

He didn't "earn" his shot at Cotto. He took the fight because he thought he could win, as did i. He QUIT!... AGAIN! Very disappointed!

Every single post is negative. It got his mate banned eventually and he can't be far away himself.

The ignore function is your friend if you don't like someones opinion folks. Gealey's my favourite boxer but he's not immune from criticism. :TU:
