The other Dib signs US contract and looking for big fights
http://www.aus-boxing.com/2016/02/09/bi ... -us-debut/
BILLEL Dib’s ambition to earn a major fight abroad has been met by signing with Probox Management.
Dib has joined the managerial roster of Florida-based duo Garry Jonas and Henry Rivalta, who boast an impressive list of world champions, former titleholders and several talented emerging prospects based in North America.
“They have been around for a long time and were the CEO and COO of Mike Tyson Promotions,” said Dib of both Jones and Rivalta. “Until recently, they joined forces with Al Haymon, whom which they work hand-in-hand,”
“Probox Management have multiple world champions and many hot prospects, so to look over what they have done with their fighters and to what they have discussed for me, it’s clear they do what they say they can.”
“Things just were not going the way I wanted in Australia,” he concluded. “I have big dreams and I am an ambitious person – I aim for the stars – so I was always looking for big opportunities.”

Good on him, let's hope he does better than other Aussies who have been signed by U.S promoters of the last couple of years.

With limited ability and a very padded record 146th ranked Billel Dib 18-1-0 will be in big trouble if he tries
to step it up in the States.
His second loss will be just around the corner and it won't be pretty.

Agreed. From a business perspective, it's an odd signing. With exception to Brent Elliot, he has fought anyone of note in AUS. For him personally, i hope he learns a lot in training over there but.The Raw Prawn wrote:With limited ability and a very padded record 146th ranked Billel Dib 18-1-0 will be in big trouble if he tries

To Dib's credit he has avenged the only loss of his career, to Dylan Sendeckyj. But I don't think it will take long until he's out of his depth in the US.The Raw Prawn wrote:With limited ability and a very padded record 146th ranked Billel Dib 18-1-0 will be in big trouble if he tries

Avenging his loss to the less experienced Dylan Sendeckyi was obviously a lot safer than fighting one of the better domestic boxersbogan whisperer wrote:To Dib's credit he has avenged the only loss of his career, to Dylan Sendeckyj. going around at the time.
I'm sure Kye Mackenzie, Waylon Law, Corey McConnell, Jack Asis and Nathaniel May would have jumped at the
chance to lower his colours.
Luckily for Billel , Paul Fleming was fighting out of the same stable.
Dib seems to be singing from the same song book as Mark de Mori.

Dib opponent's have a combined record of 113 wins-124 losses-20 draws this is a bad move you cannot aim for the stars when you are fighting blokes from the gutter

Probox, Billel's new management, have assigned him what should be a very winnable fight first up against a 39 year old Mexican journeyman with a 50% record.

Billel Dib will fight Joselito Collado 16-3 in his US debut on April 20th.
Re: The other Dib signs US contract and looking for big fights
This Collado fight should tell us where the "other" Dibster is at this important overseas step in his boxing career.
Like the Dibster, the 34 year old Collado has a padded record but his three losses, all on points, show that he wasn't an easybeat.
Best of luck to Billel.

The result was a mixed decision over 8 rounds against another opponent who had never gone past 6 rounds in 11 fights and replaced Collado.

You can only beat the guy they put in front of you. Hopefully his next opponent will be a little better credentialed. But as short notice replacements go he was hardly terrible.Beltane wrote:The result was a mixed decision over 8 rounds against another opponent who had never gone past 6 rounds in 11 fights and replaced Collado.
