Anaclet Wamba

Im just watching on of his world title fights but looking at his last fight on his record was a bit puzzling to me.

Wamba fought Dominguez on the 3rd of December 1994, defending his WBC world title but 27 days later fought in an 8 rounder against a novice of 8 fights Perfecto Gonzales, who hadnt won a fight in those 8 and also retired never winning a fight in 20 outings. Its just a bit odd a world champion fighting a novice like this 27 days after defending his world title. Also he never defended the title after the Dominguez fight, was he stripped or something?

They stripped him for being overweight. He had an on-off career, had about 18 months out prior to that.

He was lined up to defend against Hearns at one point.

Overweight at which point? After the Dominguez fight? Or was he overweight in that fight?

He didn't make the weight for their second fight, was 3-4lbs over or something.

He'd previously pulled out of a fight with Tafer (whom he'd already beaten) so Dominguez fought Tafer for the Interim title. Then was set to make his second defence against Wamba.

Weirdly, Wamba was KOd in some street fight in Vegas. Gary Mason witnessed it and was astonished.
