2002-02-05 Shigeru Nakazato vs Jun Toriumi wrong result

Post by Mastrangelos »

Just came across footage of this fight:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBzg5pMPstE
At 00:10 Jun Toriumi is introduced
at 00:40 Shigeru Nakazato is introduced.
At 19:00 You can hear beginning of round 6 being announced, in which Shigeru wins by TKO as Jun's corner throws in the towel.
You guys have it as 3-rd round TKO for Nakazato.

Thought I'll bump it, since it wasn't changed I see.
Btw. I came across that bout today:
Fidel Maldonado Jr. vs Trenton Titsworth
The scoring and notes are:
referee: Richard Espinosa Jr judges: Esther Lopez 80-58, Sandy Pino 80-59, Chris Tellez 80-59
No knockdowns but many points deducted for excessive holding

That would mean that Titsworth lost 13-14 Points for holding... (80:72 would be a result with all rounds won by Maldonado Jr. 10:9). Just wondering if it isn't some kind of mistake, or was this fight really that crazy  ?

Thanks guys.

THIS FIGHT WAS AS CRAZY AS THE SCORING REF SHOULD OF DIQUALIFIED TITSWORTH SINCE SECOND ROUND (BEAR HUGGING ENTIRE FIGHT THERE WERE ROUNDS HE DIDN'T EVEN THROW WHAT SEEMED TO BE A PUNCH) FRUSTRATED FIGHT FOR MALDONADO AND MUCH WORSE FOR THE FANS PRESENT. WHEN FANS START YELLING AT LEAST HIT THE REFEREE YOU KNOW ITS BAD.

14 points though, is that even legal  ? I was thinking maybe it's suppose to be 68/69 instead of 58/59. Or maybe it was so one sided that judges also scored a lot of rounds 10:8?
Anyway, thanks - I was just curious about that.

I WILL BE HONEST WITH YOU I REALLY DON'T THINK THE JUDGES TOOK AWAY EVERY POINT THE REF CALLED OUT ONLY BECAUSE IT GOT RIDICULOUS AND A BORING FIGHT. LIKE I SAID IT SHOULD OF BEEN A DQ AFTER THE SECOND OR THIRD ROUND. EVERY ROUND HAD AT LEAST ONE DEDUCTION. MALDONADO WAS FIGHTING BUT TITSWORTH WAS NOT EVEN RUNNING AWAY JUST HOLDING EVEN WHEN REF WOULD SAY BREAK.
