What does everyone think of William Silva

Post by Mexi-Box »

Can he pull off the upset against Felix Verdejo? Really, the Ivan Najera fight made me put the breaks on just how good Verdejo is. At times, Verdejo had trouble just landing on Najera. Najera goes on to get ktfo hard by Saul Rodriguez in his next fight.

With that said, enter William Silva. Dude is a gigantic LW at 6' 1". He's very strong, well-built, and athletic for 6' 1" too. Only negative is that he doesn't have as many fights on video like Verdejo. I've watched about 3 of his fights in total. I think that's all I could find on YouTube. He's very talented, and he has a good amateur pedigree as well.

Has a patient, stalking style. Of course, he prefers to engage on the outside. He goes from a high-guard to a should-roll defense sometimes. Goes to the body well with his lead too. Has a hellacious 1-2. I'm not sure this is a cut-and-dry fight like most are thinking.

Here is a very good interview from the Scene. Guy says he's been watching Verdejo for a very long time. Pretty much anticipating he'd fight Verdejo at some point in his career. Anyone care to voice their opinion on this fight? I'm very interested to see what everyone thinks. This fight has gone under the radar, but it's one of the most intriguing fights this weekend. :box:
