It might not even happen now - apparently Fred Flintstone and Batman are also in talks to fight Fury.

Either of those would be more entertaining that his first fight with Wlad

Who knows, you would imagine it would happen and presumably either mans next fight but after heavyweight boxing got a lift with Fury winning it and dethroning the long standing champion, all of a sudden it's dipped again.

We actually have the only real interest in the heavyweight division at present being Joshua/Martin and will Wilder travel to Russia to face Povetkin.

The big man should be the talking point of heavyweight discussion but sadly that is not the case people just brush over it now and move on to people who are fighting or have fights booked. It's March tomorrow so presumably June at the very earliest is a date for them getting it on. The two bouts mentioned should have taken place by then and so most of the interest will be at there end of a discussion.

For one reason or another, often not his fault, Tyson goes through long periods of inactivity

Ok there is a rematch clause, but surely there is a deadline by which it must be signed, sealed and delivered otherwide Fury is free to move on with his career?

Can anyone she'd any light on that?

There must be a limit, Klit can't keep him waiting forever, I'd guess it would be 6-12 months.

I was wondering this myself. Tyson did an ifilm interview on Saturday night, he gave away so little about the rematch plans that I wondered if there is a major behind the scenes hold up that they can't talk about. I would have expected him to moan about how long it's taking and talk the usual stuff about what he'll do in a rematch but he just sort of shut down the conversation and wouldn't really engage on that. Next he started talking about entering the olympics and he was wondering which country he can represent. I know he talks nonsense at times on purpose but I did wonder if there's something behind the scenes. No way should it be taking this long, they are contracted to rematch each other and the date should be set by now. Somethings up.

I think it'll get signed and Klitschko will get in the gym and realise he doesn't want it. He really doesn't need the money and I genuinely doubt he fancies the job after the last one, it may have not been a one sided domination but he could do nothing to get to Fury and they have been so used to having things their way and Fury didn't stand for any of it.

Fury is several months away from being fighting fit. He looks absolutely huge at the moment.

A twelve week camp and he'd be ready.

Well he's spend the first few weeks shedding weight and not sparring.

Well, lots of fighters only do eight weeks. Hatton had very similar camps.

And we all know how that ultimately cost Hatton.

I just think it's a little poor for an elite fight to be so clearly overweight.

Fair enough, but given there's no limit at heavy I doubt it will effect him in the way draining did Hatton.

SNG - not about weight draining , it's just about do you enter camp about to do the basics of training for a fight ie doing your roadwork properly without blowing and being able to actually spar.

Suspect it will be a late summer re-match and Fury will actually shed some pounds beforehand. Right now, he looks like another Buster Douglas post the Tyson upset. Be delighted to be proved wrong.

His weight has been up and down throughout his career, I've no reason to see it as a problem now.

Why do you assume he's the one delaying the fight?

I didn't say who was to blame. The last utterances from Fury though were about fighting cartoon characters!

Fury doesn't seem bothered about boxing at the minute. He's doing a few "audience withs", etc. To be frank, he seems disinterested.

What's he supposed to do though? The delays are almost certainly coming from the Klitschko side while Wlad decides if he actually wants the rematch; Fury can't box anyone else in the meantime, so may as well enjoy himself for a while.

Klitschko should go after the IBF title and let Fury get on with his career.

Although Fury has put on a bit of timber, he's still 27.

Klitschko turns 40 in literally a few days. He's only going to get older and slower with each passing day now and he'll never get taller or longer than Tyson (he can't take his special weigh in Tom Cruisers int the ring ;-) )so the delay still benefits Fury IMO.

I reckon Wlad is having 2nd thoughts, buy how long can he delay before the contract is void and any financial penalties Fury would face for facing another opponent disappear? Surely 9 months has to be the maximum ... And if not Fury can face Wilder or Martin?
