Big announcement regarding Ricky Burns?

Post by Emmseegee »

Once again Mr Hearn had announced that hes going to make an announcement.....

Anyone have any inside information or opinions on what this second announcement may be?

Crolla in Glasgow

Hearns saying Burns fight will be in Glasgow 'sometime in May' and an announcement soon, hes also said Crolla's opponent being announced soon and that he's fighting May 7th. Well the Manchester Arena is booked up May 7th so I might be adding 2+2 and getting 5 but educated guess its Crolla / Burns in Glasgow.

Probably another PPV for Hearn matching two of his fighters for a world title when in reality they should have fought each other before.

Doubt it. He always said he would fight on as long as he could. I still think he has something left in the tank. He's a good solid pro and looks after himself. Wishful thinking maybe but I'd love to see him win another title.

Have you heard that or is that a guess? Massive respect to Crolla if he came to Glasgow to defend. It wouldn't be an easy night for him at all.

He did mate yeah. I remember when I was an amatuer I saw him at nearly every show I attended. He was part of the Barn club. Think he just turned up to see if there was any chance he could get a fight. Obviously a big part of his make up. Loves the sport.

Could fast Eddie be bringing Linares over to these shores again? I know he was due to face Zlaticanan but that fell through. There was talks a while ago of Burns facing Barthemly in the U.S. but I doubt he'd come over here.

A friend of a friend who knows Crolla says it's May 7th in Manchester, from the horses mouth. Could be whispers, could be it was that or could well change. I dunno, and I'm not nailing my colours to the mast that that's definitely happening.

However, to apply my own poor maths to it... Arena is booked out on 7th, but Centarl (used to be Gmex) is available. Given it'll be a Crolla headline show, and there was plenty seats at Perez II, I think the smaller place packed out might well be the place for him.

Just to add to the end of the last sentence - for the British title.

The number if all-British "world" title fights is unbelievable - the funny feller is kidding the public!

when was the last time they had boxing at the G-Mex though? (Not saying my theory is correct its just a theory).

see what you're saying for smaller crowds but isn't that why the arena is used so often its can easily be made smaller (close the top / half the hall or both). G-Mex is just a big fornicate off space isn't it?

I'm taking a total stab in the dark mate, with them previously having boxing there (a million years ago) perhaps they'd consider a throw-back of sorts.

To be fair looks like I'm way off, just double checked the arena and its no longer booked May 7th (show there has been moved to the Apollo) so reckon Crolla / Barrosa rumours for May 7th more likely.

Don't know where that leaves Burns

Crolla said himself last Saturday that it was the 7th and it would be a Venezuelan.

He's stopped in a lot and not bought any PPV events and he's nearly not skint any more?
