I haven't been on Boxrec regularly for ages (probably years) but the long-standing Aussie members may remember me as we had a few spats along the way when they'd get upset at any critical assessment of your boxers ;)
Anyway that's just for background, just wanted to offer congratulations in your boy Lucas Browne lifting the WBA heavyweight title. It's a wonderful bit of history and hopefully it will spark a surge of interest in the sport among the wider public in Australia. And I don't buy into the criticisms that it isn't a proper title. Of course the WBA's division of its own championships is bullsh1t, but back in the day they would automatically strip any WBA holder who signed for a unification match anyway, so the "regular" title is just a version of the same thing, just keeping the sanctioning fees in house.
Bottom line, Lucas won a version of the world heavyweight championship. No, he is not "the" world champion, but then neither were Frank Bruno, David Haye, Herbie Hide, or for that matter even Lennox Lewis in his first reign. Chagaev is a proven world-level operator and Browne beating him is as big an achievement as winning any other "non-linear" world title in this day and age. It's also great to have yet another undefeated beltholder in the mix to add to what are very exciting times for the heavyweights.
Cheers
