Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Internet rumours are rife he's been denied a VISA. I really hope this isn't true, and the VISA was applied for, and secured some time ago.

Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
I don't think Dickens will be upset
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Yea post on twitter qouting pedro diaz basically saying he's stuck in russia and wont have a visa in time for saturday.
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
In the interests of balance there's also posts from FW twitter saying Rigo will be in the UK Wednesday and that he's already in Europe

Hope this isn't true. Was looking forward to this.
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
These Visa regs should go right out the window when boxing matches need to be made. They know full fine well it's all legitimate and above board. Nothing to see here. Like when Khan went to America. Stamp the damn form.

Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
No doubt if it is true FW will take all the flack from people who probably wanted something like this to happen anyway. However, shouldn't the main finger of blame be pointed at Rigo's team? Isn't it down to them to ensure that their fighter has the correct paperwork?
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Yeah agree. Very unprofessional. If this is the case then Rigo has missed a chance. I know it was an undercard appearance but there was talk of Frank chasing the Frampton fight on his behalf so it's not ideal for Rigo. American TV aren't exactly falling over themselves to sign him up. Frustrating situation for all concerned if reports are true!ste1983 wrote:No doubt if it is true FW will take all the flack from people who probably wanted something like this to happen anyway. Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Would guess so, they have to make the visa application, when you go on holiday it's up to you to get a visa not the travel agent or whoever's organising it. Judging by that facebook post, if it's true, when he says that it wasn't the correct application, that sounds to me like they've applied for the wrong visa. Hopefully Warren can pull a few strings and get it sorted, they're still saying that the fight's on at the moment.ste1983 wrote:No doubt if it is true FW will take all the flack from people who probably wanted something like this to happen anyway. If this is true, it's a shambles & an embarrassment to Rigo and his camp. Amateurs!
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Yeah just saw Box-nation publish a running order with it on. Fingers crossed, whether you like FW or not anyone who's happy (and there will be) if this fight falls out is a complete dickhead in my book.expe wrote:Would guess so, they have to make the visa application, when you go on holiday it's up to you to get a visa not the travel agent or whoever's organising it. I think i missed all of this. Who and where was he supposed to be fighting?
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Been reported now that he's out but think thats just stemmed from an article by Elliot Foster that guy has no real sources half the time his stories are simply the board notices (that anyone can read) just re worded.

Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Lots of misinformation and conflicting stories on Twitter. You've got allegedly Twitter feed hyping a fight that all of the Pop up boxing 'journalists' think is already off. And you've got the usual Twitter headcases calling allegedly all the names under the sun. Rigo and Warren conspicuous by their absence just now. Very strange indeed.

The day after it happens every Syrian on the planet applies for a boxing licensettornado wrote:magwitch wrote:These Visa regs should go right out the window when boxing matches need to be made.

Jazza Dickens on Flanagan/Matthews card this Saturday.freddydoesdallas wrote:I think i missed all of this. Who and where was he supposed to be fighting?
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
official press release from FW now, states there are issues with Rigo's visa who's in Russia at moment but they are trying to sort this out.
Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
It has shades of Joan Guzman vs Alex Arthur.
Guzman dicked around and eventually vacated. But at the time there was multiple people saying he was definitely coming over - then other sources saying he's not got a visa, overweight etc etc. Smoke / Fire.
I hope he does come over, but everyone is starting to get a sinking feeling it would seem.

Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
If this is because UK authorities have been slow or unfair in processing the visa, Rigondeaux and Jazza Dickens both have my sympathies. But if it is the situation that sometimes seems to happen where the manager / adviser in question has left it too late / has forgotten to deal with getting the visa sorted, then my sympathies only lie with Jazza Dickens. I hope it gets sorted - would be good to see Rigondeaux fight on these shores, and I hate it when a "whoa!" fight comes up and then doesn't happen, like Broner v Sykes.

Why didn't Broner v Sykes happen? I remember being disappointed, but don't remember why - was that a visa issue as well?olij999 wrote:If this is because UK authorities have been slow or unfair in processing the visa, Rigondeaux and Jazza Dickens both have my sympathies. Don't think it was a visa thing, but can't remember what did happen!Boxerbeetle wrote:Why didn't Broner v Sykes happen? Re: Rigondeaux's got no Visa ?
Presumably could have started his visa application a fortnight ago
