David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Interesting fight on the Heavyweight domestic scene winner could well be in line to fight for the British title. I'm with David here in Finland sparring Robert Helenius and he's more than holding his own, very fit and more than ready for 26th
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Sparring Helenius is an excellent idea, similar height and build to Towers but also better than Towers in every department.
It should stand him in good stead.

Good fight. I edge slightly towards Towers. Just because of his overall size.
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Towers has done more bird than Juergen Braehmer.
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
good fight.........lets hope no pullouts..........
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
If Allen wants to do anything in this game, he needs to make a statement and derail Towers once and for all.

Always liked the look of Allen even though his career has never quite taken off as of yet. It's the fight he needs & would be a good name to have on his record if he can do the business. Should be a good contest.

Really interesting fight.
Reports back from Allens sparring with Helenius are positive but of course that's no indication of how it's gone.
I'd favour Towers but not by much.

50/50 fight, no odds up yet for contest but expect it to reflect the closeness of this bout.

Never seen Allen.
Is he much good?
I've seen Towers a few times and never been impressed by him, he carries decent power though. Looking at Allen's record he doesn't seem that great... a draw against mediocre opponent and scraping by on points against a couple of other journeymen. But then, that might not reflect his actual ability... other fighters like Blackwell and McKenzie have records that don't reflect his skills.

Two fights in a row he's been let down on fight week now poor stuff from towers and his team if he's out they should already be saying why it is he's pulled out how's a young hungry heavyweight meant to keep the hunger when he keeps getting letting down hope he gets a good replacement as it's a tough fight he as been wanting and asking for the last few months

Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Allen will most likely face Jason gavern over 10 rounds now.
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Gavern had surgery to repair an Achilles Tendon tear in December, it was only a matter of days ago he was posting pics of his 'rehab' on Twitter, he's probably not fit to fight, Allen's not too good and not much of a puncher, so this could be a horrible full distance maul.

Isn't Adam Booth the trainer of Towers and Eubank Jnr? How was he going to be in two places at once?
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Now its not Towers/Allen I'm hoping its binned from the tv schedule to be honest would rather see Townend/Poxon or Wood/Glover anyway.Offal wrote:Gavern had surgery to repair an Achilles Tendon tear in December, it was only a matter of days ago he was posting pics of his 'rehab' on Twitter, he's probably not fit to fight, Allen's not too good and not much of a puncher, so this could be a horrible full distance maul.
Re: David Allen v Richard Towers 26th March
Should definitely show the two fights you mention, it would be crazy now to show this live as Gavern said he would be out for 6-9 months back in December I think it was, not sure how he gets through the medical but I guess he probably will. Looking forward to seeing the two ten rounders they look decent.ste1983 wrote:Now its not Towers/Allen I'm hoping its binned from the tv schedule to be honest would rather see Townend/Poxon or Wood/Glover anyway.Offal wrote:Gavern had surgery to repair an Achilles Tendon tear in December, it was only a matter of days ago he was posting pics of his 'rehab' on Twitter, he's probably not fit to fight, Allen's not too good and not much of a puncher, so this could be a horrible full distance maul.

shame for Allen, Towers doesn't have the heart for it anymore. I believe Allen would have won purely on the basis he wants it more.
