A better fight than I had anticipated. Lot's of clinching, ugly, but it never spoiled it for me as they continued fighting up close and the exchanges proved pivotal on the outcome. Turpin landed plenty throughout from the clinches, particularly the right over Robinsons shoulder and Robinson landing well to the body in the second half of the fight.

Interesting was Turpin's style of dipping really low at the knees, almost in a split squat. Proved an excellent evasive tool and allowed him to launch some quick and powerful attacks from the crouched position that Ray never had an answer for. You would have though as he tired he would struggle with weary legs but he kept doing it all night.
In general, Turpin looked the more natural at middleweight and the stronger man and looked quicker too at times. Landed his jab well and worked well going backwards at times and on the front foot was able to push Robinson back.

Robinson was not at his best and certainly not the Robinson of his younger days at welterweight, but he was still a great fighter, who was still beating great fighters around that time so huge credit has to go to Turpin who out though and out fought his man. Must be the greatest result in British boxing history
