The best super middleweight
I thought it was understood that DeGale is the number one SMW right now. But since there is no dominant champion in the division what do you think?
Re: The best super middleweight
Do you mean who has the best resume or who has the most ability and would do the best in head to heads?
Someone like Degale may have the best resume, but I hardly think it's clear that he's a better fighter than everyone else in the division.

Re: The best super middleweight
The best fighter rankings must be based on resume. Its not enough to have a talent to be consider a champion. You have to actually win it.crusader wrote:Do you mean who has the best resume or who has the most ability and would do the best in head to heads?

Re: The best super middleweight
DeGale is No. 1, but I wouldn't be surprised if he lost to any of the other top dogs at the weight.
Re: The best super middleweight
If it's about resumes I'd go with Degale.
In terms of ability I don't think it's clear who the best between Ramirez, Degale, Jack, and Smith is, and I wouldn't be surprised at any particular fighter from that group beating another.

Wow
Degale just lost to Porky Medina effing Porky medina was out working him and busted him up nicely.
Shiit Degale arguably lost to Dirrell as well this guy shouldn't be holding any title right now.
Ramirez with his lone win over Abraham who was previously rated the number one smw imo is the best in the division.
Ramirez would light Degale up beautifully no doubt in my mind.

Abraham was not the No. 1 super middleweight.kidbazooka1 wrote:Ramirez with his lone win over Abraham who was previously rated the number one smw imo is the best in the division.
He was there for the taking, he's awful.
Re: The best super middleweight
Why is Sturm in the list, but Chudinov who defeated him twice isn't ?

In your opinion but some had him numero uno at the time like Ring magazine.Horse wrote:Abraham was not the No. 1 super middleweight.kidbazooka1 wrote:Ramirez with his lone win over Abraham who was previously rated the number one smw imo is the best in the division.

Ring magazine is a joke.kidbazooka1 wrote:In your opinion but some had him numero uno at the time like Ring magazine.
Abraham is a plodding doofus with an overrated defence, overrated power and with a terrible workrate.

Doesn't change the fact that Degale arguably got beat by a journeyman this past week.Horse wrote:Ring magazine is a joke.kidbazooka1 wrote:In your opinion but some had him numero uno at the time like Ring magazine.

Ramirez is the better fighter.
Re: The best super middleweight
Both are equally useless bums. I only put Sturm there because he has that paper belt.ikorolev wrote:Why is Sturm in the list, but Chudinov who defeated him twice isn't ?
As for Abraham been division no1 that's just ridiculous. Guy barely beat Paul Smith and likes of him. Abraham at 168 is little better then a trash. Go check out what Groves, DeGale and Ward did to Smith. Jesus! Corrupt sanctioning body throws a belt at someone and suddenly he is the best in the division.
Re: The best super middleweight
Right now you'd have to give the edge to Degale who has the best current resume at the weight, but I think Zurdo Ramirez would beat him and Badou Jack.
Re: The best super middleweight
First of all, the belt will likely be returned to Chudinov after Sturm's B sample results are available. Second of all, how is he a bum when he hasn't lost a fight ? Don't say that he is basic, because then so is Smith.Tarkus wrote:Both are equally useless bums. He is not just basic, he is poor both technically and physically and he has not lost because he has not fought anyone. When he does, the same thing will happen to him like to his brother. He will be outboxed and beaten by any B level fighter. And if he fights Callum Smith he is going to get flattened.ikorolev wrote:First of all, the belt will likely be returned to Chudinov after Sturm's B sample results are available. Re: The best super middleweight
Sturm is nobody. He expired million years ago, as a middleweight. Smiths last 3 opponents are better then Sturm and I would pick them to beat Chudinov if they fought.
Re: The best super middleweight
Hard to pick 'best'. Dégale and Jack looked dire. Smith is all potential, and Ramirez might have caught Abraham on the way down. As it looks like Sturm is a cheating scumbag, he's scrubbed before the off. All in all I'd go for the retired Carl Froch
Re: The best super middleweight
You are clearly English. Sturm would comfortably beat any of Callum's opponents.Tarkus wrote:Sturm is nobody. He expired million years ago, as a middleweight. Smiths last 3 opponents are better then Sturm and I would pick them to beat Chudinov if they fought.

Re: The best super middleweight
Jack and DeGales resumes are tied for me.
Jack beat Groves and DeGale beat Bute and they both have a Dirrell brother a piece.
Jack struggled with Bute and DeGale struggled with Medina.
The unification will determine the current no.1 in the division, but this division is wide open...

There is no outstanding boxer. Golovkin could wipe out the division.wesshaw1985 wrote:Jack and DeGales resumes are tied for me.

Re: The best super middleweight
If I had to pick one, I'd pick Ramirez after he dominated Abraham.
I thought DeGale lost to Medina, so I can't really pick him, though I do think he's a very good fighter. Jack is also quite good.
I honestly don't remember if I've seen Smith, but from the way people talk about him, certainly appears he may be a real factor.

Re: The best super middleweight
I am a fan of Callum Smith in the same extant as Ramirez. Both are exciting fighters that I hope clean up the mess of a division. What I am not fan of is these Germans that sit home with their belts, fight bums and duck the world class opponents.ikorolev wrote:You are clearly English. So, you are English, right ? And you obviously got something against Russians calling Chudinov a bum.Tarkus wrote:I am a fan of Callum Smith in the same extant as Ramirez.
