Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Yes, but I usually only bet the 99% sure bets, so I don't win much either and I usually do extremely low bets (0,10 euro bets), .
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
The last time I bet $$$ on boxing was Weaver by KO over Big John Tate. As a result I am still $500 up.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
I used to bet a lot but I am more selective nowadays. Mainly because a losing bet fucks me off that much I don't enjoy the rest of the fights. Couldn't be sure if I'm up or down money to be honest. Been betting on boxing since I was 18 and I'm 32 so impossible to tell.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
I've only made a few bets and turned a minor profit (my biggest winner was Froch over Bute).

Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
I very rarely bet on boxing as I find it ruins my enjoyment whilst watching. But overall I think I made a very slight profit on the bets I have made, hardly worth mentioning though.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Yup. Me too. Once I literally bet the house during Foreman's 1990s comeback and he was fighting a guy from South America named Rodriguz. GF won in the second round but I was shaking in my boots until it was over. KO2. Before it was over, the people in front of me were talking about the heat getting to George. They weren't helping my mood.asdfjkl wrote:Yes, but I usually only bet the 99% sure bets, so I don't win much either and I usually do extremely low bets (0,10 euro bets), .

Lost a fair bit more than I've won, though I tend to back the under-dogs, thinking a few small stake losses here and there aren't too bad (never big money) if I can pull a big win every so often.

In their second bout, I put $50 on Tarver to knockout Jones in rounds 1-3. I think I won $785. That was my greatest windfall. Though I immediately blew it on digital blackjack like a sucker.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Nope, infact boxing losses me more than any other sports.
When i pick correctly i usually go with the guy by ko or tko and he wins ud. Sometimes to get better value i go with a guy to win insude 6 and then they get the ko in r7.
Lost big on Klitchko to ko Fury.
Got Canelo inside 3 tonight.

Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Boxing bets are easy money because the odds are frequently out of whack..
Historically the best bets I've seen were Foreman-Frazier 1 which I nailed... I missed Tyson-Douglas where some people got rich... Tyson-Holyfield I and II were both great bets... Forrest-Mosley I was massive because Forrest had a monster training camp and peaked in that fight... Donaire-Darchinyan was a great bet because ND was bigger, taller, stronger, faster, and a big underdog... Rigondeaux was too good a boxer for Donaire and a very good bet... Juicy underdogs who can't lose don't appear very often - yet you do see them from time to time.
As far as favorites go??? Holmes was certain to beat Ali... Kovalev was almost certain to beat Hopkins and should have been a 50/1 fav... Joshua was always going to destroy all his opponents... Canelo was too big and strong for Cotto... Klitschko was a very POOR bet to beat the taller, rangier Fury because Klitschko has no ring cutting skills, attacking skills, body punching skills, inside fighting skills, or sustained combination punching skills... Canelo is a great bet to beat the overhyped, weak chinned, weak punching, Welterweight, Khan... Joshua should murder Breazeale and his Whyte and Martin fights were great bets... Eubank was great versus O'Sullivan and Blackwood and I would back him in a rematch with Saunders... Golovkin would murder Canelo but I'll bet Canelo backers would make the odds attractive...
Don't bet on ANY fight you don't have great confidence in... Klitschko-Fury was in Germany... Thurman-Porter is too close... I didn't like Leonard-Hagler... I didn't like the Hopkins-Pascal fights... I didn't like the De La Hoya-Mosley fights... I didn't like the Holmes-Witherspoon fight... I didn't like the Hearns-Barkley fights... I didn't like the Canelo-Lara fight... I didn't like the Jacobs-Quillin fight... I didn't like the Frampton-Quigg fight. The great majority of fights are not betting fights.. If you think the odds are right or they're anywhere CLOSE to being right it's foolish to bet.

Yes. Its having the balls to go big when you're certain of a result. You also have to put the research and time in to find those nuggets when the bookies get it wrong. You also have to take a few loses on the chin and back yourself to bounce back. Experience, discipline, knowledge and daring.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
superinteresting. thnx everyone.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Undoubtedly. It's the team sports that are much more problematic.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
Yes. A big emphatic yes. But I am not a gambler and have only bet 4 times on boxing and won all 4.

I bet £20 on Haye to KO Harrison in 3, then put all the winnings on Manny to beat Margarito by decision.
That was pretty much the only bet I've put on. I found the whole thing too stressful.

I made a few dollars overall. Just for fun but the whole thing is rigged. I remember about a year ago andre ward fought a total bum who had absolutely zero chance. If the bum defeated ward you would make about five dollars for every dollar you bet on the bum. However you needed to bet about 30 dollars to make 1 dollar on ward winning the fight. Those kinds of betting lines just don't make sense to me.

I find boxing betting difficult due to the odd judging at times, it paid off when I bet on the draw in Perez vs Takam but other times not so much.
I would guess I'm down overall, but these are are just small bets these days so I don't keep count.

I love the whole George Foreman story, become world champion, lose a match, stay inactive for 10 years, make a comeback, become world champion again! Only Wladimir Klitschko could theoretically have done it, nobody else as far as I know, or in the heavyweight league at least.Tony1244 wrote:Yup. Me too. Yes, I think I made more on PAC/dlh than I've lost combined.

I liked Foreman before liking him was cool. Back when he played the villain against Frazier, Ali and The Toronto 5. Now its funny that he's doing promos for grills, mufflers and inventions.
Re: honest answer: did you overall make money betting in boxing?
betting only £20 on fights involving top 30 fighters (where there was a book) you would have £104,192 (from that initial £20) if you used the independent world boxing rankings since July 1993. I tend to bet no more than £100 (often to win £15), some years I have broken evenish, but most years make enough to live modestly.
This weekend was bad: Herrera got beat by Gomez, much higher in the ratings, bet £40 and I lost at +2.4 Lost of Barrosso (going against the ratings and he was the favourite) lost £50 won £44 on Pulev from a £100 stake. Did not bet Canelo.
You will never win every bet. I lost a last week on the Badou draw.
