Def the right decision. Nice bloke. Always felt he was a tad overated, buthey, he gave it his all so good on him.

Re: macklin retires.
Good for him and best of luck to him
Re: macklin retires.
Should have fought Andy Lee before retiring.
Re: macklin retires.
Good pay day but Macklins shot to pieces. Lee would've made easy work of him.Horse wrote:Should have fought Andy Lee before retiring.
Re: macklin retires.
Correct decision. He's had a good career and was unlucky not to pick up a world title. Can be proud of his achievements. All the best to him
Re: macklin retires.
More than ready to retire shown by his last couple of outings was overdue, good career seems to have a good life through boxing aswel,l good luck to him, whatever he does next.
Re: macklin retires.
Lee's looked pretty awful in a lot of his recent fights before coming back into them.Stuarty30 wrote:Good pay day but Macklins shot to pieces. Lee would've made easy work of him.
He'd probably knock Macklin out, but I don't think that Lee would make it look easy.
It's pretty ridiculous that none of Macklin, Barker, Murray & Lee ever fought each other.

Yeah that is disappointing.Horse wrote:Lee's looked pretty awful in a lot of his recent fights before coming back into them.Stuarty30 wrote:Good pay day but Macklins shot to pieces. Lee would've made easy work of him.

Re: macklin retires.
I'm surprised after winning his last fight, though pretty narrowly.
Re: macklin retires.
BJS would have beat them all so doesn't really matter that much.

It does matter.Rexob wrote:BJS would have beat them all so doesn't really matter that much.

I really don't get that logic.Rexob wrote:BJS would have beat them all so doesn't really matter that much.

id have enjoyed seeing a round robin. Im sure im not the only one. so it does matter mate,Rexob wrote:Horse wrote:It does matter.Rexob wrote:BJS would have beat them all so doesn't really matter that much.

Plus im not totally convinced BJS would have done them all. The Murray and Macklin that fought sturm wouldve been toughies.
Re: macklin retires.
Good luck to Macklin. A solid performer who gave so much when that 1st bell went. A great career to be proud of and the holder of some genuine & prestigious titles.

Re: macklin retires.
Hope he has a happy retirement, always gave value for money and wasn't afraid to fight the best,he got robbed against Sturm, put in a brave effort against Martinez, even dropping him and got poleaxed by a body shot from Golovkin that would've crumpled anyone
Agree with whoever posted about him,Barker,Lee and Murray not fighting each other is a bit of a disgrace although I like all 4 guys
The Moore fight stands above all though, def in my top 10 of all time

There's no particular reason to believe that he would have beaten all of them.Stevieb8006 wrote:id have enjoyed seeing a round robin. Im sure im not the only one. so it does matter mate,

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the other three all beat him.
Re: macklin retires.
Macklin vs Barker was scheduled, but Barker pulled out through injury.handsofstone wrote:Agree with whoever posted about him,Barker,Lee and Murray not fighting each other is a bit of a disgrace although I like all 4 guys
So, Macklin probably deserves the least blame for those fights not happening.
Re: macklin retires.
The real question is which accent he's going to retire to - paddy or brummie?
Re: macklin retires.
Can't blame him, he has looked past his best for a while. Good luck to him, he had a good career and now can consentrate on the Managment side of things.

Re: macklin retires.
Good luck to him. I feel he's decided at the right time and he's still in the thick of boxing with MGM.
Re: macklin retires.
Be great to see him in a prizefighter against some young guns if he decides to comeback anytime soon.
