GGG & Canelo possibly agree to NOT fight just yet? FFS!

I hope Team-GGG decide to just force the issue and fight now (the only reason to not fight immediately is if he's going to grab the WBO title and bring it to the table for an end-of-year 4-title showdown).

2-3 interim fights :shame:

I hope GGG's side isn't up for that.

I sure as hell hope not too. I'm a huge GGG fan, but I'll be sickened by him and his team if they agree to this garbage. Because it'll forever be 2 or 3 more fights.

2 or 3 more fights and then...2 or 3 more fights and then...2 or 3 more fights...and then what's that GGG is 39 now? Well we just might be brave enough to fight him if he comes down in weight a little.

I am sure that those proposals are from DLH, so they have to be "discussed". Golovkin and Loefler clearly said "no more delays". I doubt that they would back up.

Ya, this may just be a matter of GB presenting that as an option, even if GGG's team isn't up for it; I certainly hope that's the case too.

Canelo is 25, Golovkin is 34. Every month that passes is to Canelo's advantage.

The fight should happen now. They're clearly the 2 best guys at the weight. When obvious fights like this don't happen, it helps push boxing farther into nichedom.

It is absolutely not clear that Canelo is #2 MW. Lemieux, Saunders and Eubank Jr could beat him.

Bet you're the type of guy who likes putting bugs under a microscope in the sun or the family pet in the microwave.

As for Canelo-GGG.... if i were the promoter or Canelos manager i think 2017 makes most sense.

September or October of this year makes the most sense.

He's taking the piss.

All this BS is expected from Team Canelo. Because, they know what every other sane boxing fan on the planet knows. G will beat that ass. So, expect nothing but smoke and mirrors from this camp for the next few years regarding facing G.

You can't fight corruption or City Hall by your lonesome. Golovkin has been chasing the Lineal Middleweight Title for 7 years. If your opponent doesn't want to fight you and pays off the WBC, and they allow all these "exceptions" to their mandatory, deemed "reasonable" because of the so-called desire to buildup the fight, there's nothing you can do. They stripped Cotto of the title because of non-payment of a 350,000 dollar fee. That's not surprising. But it's been said for many months, the idea that they would strip Canelo for refusing to fight his mandatory is a stretch -- even though they've said so in no uncertain terms... That may just have been for public consumption and they're hearing from the Canelo people.

At the very least GGG and his team can reject the idea of building it up any further and demand that Canelo either fight or be stripped of the belt. Nothing else is an acceptable response from GGG for me.

Not for Canelo. He's not fought at the weight yet. His problem is he is sitting on a belt which is something of a farce. If i'm his trainer than i want him competing at 160 first.. maybe vs a guy like Saunders before GGG.

As for Golovkin... his star power hasn't peaked yet (althoigh i understand it might not improve without Canelo).

2-3 interim fights against proper middle weights for Canelo is a good idea. He is not ready for GGG. But give the belt to whom it belongs.

It's also worth noting, Golovkin could squeeze 2 fights into 6 months, as he likes to keep busy, 3 fights could be done in 9. And if they are lower level opposition, they're likely to be relatively quick blow-outs

Canelo's fights all have to be built as super-fight p4p events and will happen at a rate of 1 every 6 months.
3 fights for him could take 18 months and delay the event for a full 2 years

God sometimes I despise this sport.

Just lies, lies and more lies from promoters.

GGG will be 35 soon (or is he already) - are we going to get this fight when he's 38 and past it?

Canelo could easily lose if he actually has the balls to campaign as a full blown 160 lb fighter, or are we going to have more bullshit of him trying to drag people down to 155, whilst he fights at 'middleweight.'

This makes me mad as hell.

Why can't we just have a fight between two guys at the top of their game, fighting at the same weight, at their primes? Why do we have to have 2 years of hype and bullshit - the fight just doesn't need any more fights to build it up, just MAKE THE FKKING FIGHT!!!

Precisely, by which time GGG is 37 - and beginning to show signs of decline, or worse becomes plagued with injuries.

This sucks balls.

"T.M.K"

DLH is completely and utterly full of shite. I can't stand the bulgy eyed cokewank. All this 'the fight doesn't need to marinate' bullshit before the fight, and now this.

Why don't GGG's team just tell them to piss off, and insist that they strip him of the title?

It sounds to me like his team are agreeing to this, unless they have no faith in the WBC, why else would you even enter into these negotiations.

I'm already tired of the GGG/Canelo talk and actually don't care if they fight at all. I mean we aren't talking about Floyd and Manny here. I don't HAVE to see these two guys fight at all. It's a mismatch in every way. Canelo does not have the movement or hand speed to get away from GGG's constant pressure and I feel it's going to be one of GGG's easiest and fastest wins in awhile. I don't get why people HAVE to see this? Who cares?

Personally, i'd love to see GGG take on Jacobs. Jacobs has the size, speed and power that will hold up much better. I think that fight would be fantastic. GGG taking on a WW? please. Not a great fight.
