Shannon Briggs - What happened to Alexander Dimitrenko?

Post by Controversial »

I must've missed this being cancelled, he is now fighting Emilio Zarate (who???), what happened to Dimitrenko? Briggs weighed in at 17st 12lbs for the Zarate fight.

Dimitrenko apparently pulled out, something he did already the fight before. Briggs will now fight Zarate...

What do Dimitrenko, Tor Hamer, and Bermaine Stiverne all have in common?

That should answer the question.

Until recently, Haye had the same issue cured by his next fight if it happens.

He didn't pull out, there was never a contract, it was just Haye talking & assuming bullshit & the media confirmed it.

Alexander seems to be another pussy to me, if people really think Briggs is as weak as they suggest, then why not fight him?
He's (very) high ranked atm, he's able to give you a lot of attention and fame and it's and easy task isn't it?

Oh no it isn't, and boxers are scared as hell for him.

On Dimitrenko's twitter page he says he was never asked to fight Briggs.

At this rate, Briggs & Haye are going to be passing Gjergjaj between the two of them.

Shannon will wheeze his way past him on the undercard, then Haye will feast on him on the main event!

The boxing mobsters cancelled Povetkin vs Wilder and now they are trotting out these phony Haye and Briggs fights. I think I'll watch WWE wrasslin instead. It's more real than boxing.

Even if he wasn't, shouldn't he accept straigth away, because of the reasons I already wrote earlier?

He could at least say he would like the fight, that's pretty much everything he needed to do isn't it? Place, time, opponend, everything was done.

I don't believe that Briggs would've accepted a bout with Dimitrenko, who is past his best but still much better than people like Zarate, Carmack, and Marrone.

Shannon is fighting a can, which is exactly what he's been doing for the last several years. That's the type of matchmaking that leads me to believe that Briggs's side has no confidence in his ability to win at a decent level and is just looking for a cash-out opportunity against a big name, which Briggs pursues mainly through his out of the ring antics because his boxing ability is currently very limited. I believe that Dimitrenko's name was being used simply to bring more attention to Briggs and the bill, not because there was serious consideration of him being Shannon's next opponent.

Zarate is an absolute joke of an opponent, if the feather fisted novice Hughie Fury can knock him out in 2 then he isn't going last a round against Briggs.

They floated Dimitrenko's name out there to make it look legit I figure. They know he can't beat anybody remotely dangerous anymore so they're gonna let him fight some chump in front of a U.K. audience and spin that into a big fight with Haye. This way Haye gets to beat up a name that really poses him little to no threat.

Briggs should not even be fighting. Dude is 44 years old and his last serious opponent (Vitali) hospitalized him.

You realise that none of your post makes any sense. He was never offered the fight. It was just a ticket selling trick for the gullible.

Of course he wasn't. When they set up fights in the carny racket they call boxing, especially high profile fights, they make them sign contracts. They can't just say they changed their mind because then the gangsters from the party of the first part will sue the gangsters from the party of the second part, the boxer's handlers who are raking in most of the boxer's side of the take; and if the boxer says he's injured they have to produce medical proof of the injury. A note from his mother is not sufficient.

It has nothing to do with age. Briggs is running around screaming for a title shot and he hasn't beaten anyone in the top 50 for over a decade.

If he fights and beats a top 25 guy then it's fine for him to shoot off his mouth.

If he wants to fight guys ranked lower than 100, that's fine too, but if he's clamoring for a title fight while avoiding everyone with a pulse, he should be ridiculed by every boxing fan.

I agree, to be fair to Rexob I think he was being sarcastic.

The "Briggs vs Dimitrenko Fight" was more BOXING BUSINESS BULLSHIT... Just like the phony stories of Povetkin being a drug cheat and failing his PED tests... Boxing is inhabited by criminals, money grubbers, conspirators, BS artists, cherry-pickers, duckers, and cold blooded defamers like Pacquiao proved in winning his defamation suits versus the Mayweather's, Oscar, Richard Schaefer, and Golden Boy, ... Plus there's a lot of good people in Boxing -- but I have the sick feeling we're far in the minority.

Haye is promoting his own cards & he will maximize the revenue he can pocket. He is fighting Briggs next & he would have to pay Dimitrenko who wouldn't be cheap. He would have to pay him more than the guy Haye fought. Not going to happening. He was never in the mix. It was all BS. I read Haye has been taking half the gate for his last 2 fights & will do the same against Briggs. I assuming tickets will be on the rise as he will have to pay Briggs a lot more money. He is not signed with anyone. He is going tie promote himself route now.
