Haye vs Briggs in September
Haye vs Briggs in September
Buh bye, Cannon. Doubt Shannon sees the 5th round.
Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
He won't even try. Shannon might go for it in the 1st round, but after that he'll be looking for a soft spot on the canvas the first solid shot he takes. He's not interested in losing his paycheck to hospital bills again I'm sure, and the paycheck is all he's in it for.
Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
..is it confirmed? not sure why Haye needs it anyway...
Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
What a ridicolous fight.

Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
The whole show yesterday was so staged. An easy opponent for Briggs so he couldn't lose and when Haye beats Briggs he will have a win over a highly ranked fighter (god knows why Briggs is so highly ranked) that will pretty much guarantee Haye title shot. A very easy route for Haye.

MORE Boxing "BUSINESS" ... "FORMER 2-TIME WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION SHAAAAANON THE CAAAAANNOOOONNNN BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGS!!!!"
Don't make me throw up hyping this dog of a fight. It's a first round KO unless Haye wants to torture Briggs like he did Chisora.

Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
I notice that numerous people are defending the fight based on it being good business.
Good business is also behind risk minimizing/reward maximizing practices like fighters swerving tough opposition, defending paper trinkets against nobodies, and uninspiring matchmaking in general. If you're going to be consistent you might as well say yay for all that! Boxing is a business! Fighters have families to feed! If you don't like it don't watch it!

Haye isn't a top level fighter.crusader wrote:I notice that numerous people are defending the fight based on it being good business.

He's never quit before, I doubt he will now. Shitty fight, but I don't see any reason to question Briggs heart. Haye punches harder than Vitali and he's even older now so I agree with the outcome.gilgamesh wrote:He won't even try. Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
I don't question Briggs' heart as far as his whole career is concerned, but to me he's only in the game at this point for that one last payday. That's why he was following Wlad everywhere trying to talk his way into a big payday instead of earning his way into it by facing live opponents. He's faced nobody who posed any kinda threat since Vitali because he wanted to put together a good enough streak to get that last big payday. Now that he's got it. I don't think it'll take much to convince him to call it a night.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He's never quit before, I doubt he will now. Shitty fight, but I don't see any reason to question Briggs heart. Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
I think this is an awesome fight i mean for 44 Briggs is in top shape! But age puts limits on a man as we all know. Its pretty much Speed vs Power, but with a twist because Haye also has DEADLY power. If haye boxes and is smart then he should win but if Haye is careless and lets his hands down which he does a lot and I remember in the Klitschko fight thinking Haye is using his footwork and head movement amazingly but he kept getting hit because his hand were always down! if he has his hands up then he should be fine, but i wont be surprised if Briggs wins either because he still has a lot to give. Hes doing better at 44 than most guys now who are 24 and 34. Clash of 2 big names, 2 big personalities and 2 former World Champions. If you love Heavyweight Boxing this is a must see fight no doubt!
Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
I confess and it is kind of a confession, I confess to looking forward to this.

He's definitely chasing a payday, that's the same thing he was doing when he got Vitali. I'm just not willing to expect him to do something that he's never done before.gilgamesh wrote:I don't question Briggs' heart as far as his whole career is concerned, but to me he's only in the game at this point for that one last payday. We were talking about undefeated Heavyweights who weren't quite household names.
Well here's a sweetheart and a former Shannon Briggs victim.

Briggs has only been stopped twice, so its an interesting question to see how long it goes.

Hopefully Briggs sends him to the land of twitch
dreams sometimes come true.
Re: Haye vs Briggs in September
Has it actually come down to this.
I like Haye the guy but even he would have a hard time explaining his way out of this one should it materialize.
Come on now David let's get a grip of ourselves here.

Briggs wants to be the next George Foreman although he only took a few years off before his return.

If I wanted to watch choreographed "sports entertainment" I'd watch WWE wrestling. Much better actors.
