Great to see, top interview and as has been said seems a genuine and sound individual. Really wish him the very bet of luck and home he has a cracking post ring fighting career.

Good interview on toe 2 toe, genuine and reasoned about the Eubank's. Haye's generosity and advice comes across well, and done more for Blackwell than he publicised.

Glad to see he's made such a full recovery more than anything.

Also good that he's looking to end any lingering bad blood with the Eubank family.

Nice to see he's still in Locketts gym. Great team down there.
Blackwell is a credit to the sport and I'd like to see him helping out Lockett with the occasional pundit work.

Hope Dan is keeping well aswell, people forget 2 Blackwells stopped boxing that night.

Away from Sr and cameras Eubank Jr is also a nice kid. The British title belt offer is actually a nice touch which is obviously juniors idea not seniors.

Sadly, I have to agree, easy for me to say I know, but I'd like to think if I were in that position where he was a mile behind on the cards, taking a bad beating, and also making zero impact on the fight, I'd know when it was enough.

Lockett kept on saying between rounds that it was going to plan and Eubank was tiring. If the plan was to get the living shite kicked out of you for most of the fight, then I guess it was, and if Eubank was tiring, which he didn't seem to be especially, he wasn't tiring half as much as poor old Blackwell.

It's a shame because had he been pulled out a couple of rounds before Nick may well still have a career; which he almost certainly hasn't now, at least not a licensed one.

Anyway, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I've always liked trainers who pull their fighters out of a fight even on the big occasion.

Eddie Futch pulling Frazier out during his last fight with Ali, probably added years to Frazier's life, he was taking a merciless beating, and whilst he was tough enough to have survived the fight, Futch saw what was happening to him, and decided enough was enough.

Disagree.Lockett did nothing wrong.

Blackwell was throwing back. Blackwell always comes on strong and the plan was to always catch up with Eubank late on.

There would be zero complaints from anyone if he didn't get injured.

Blackwell was landing nothing of significance, and was taking a serious kicking, especially in the couple of rounds preceding the stoppage. He looked tired, weakened and ineffective, given that he hadn't 'come on strong' at at any point past half way, what possible reason was there to think he would come on strong? Eubank looked fresh, hadn't taken many shots, and was still throwing plenty of hard shots.

Throwing back alone, is not grounds to allow a fighter to continue, if a fighter is taking substantial punishment, a referee has grounds to halt the fight if they are a long way behind, and with little or no prospect of winning, the corner can do this obviously at any time.

I think Lockett will probably be quicker to stop his fighters after this. I don't blame the man, but it wasn't pleasant watching the heavy shots Blackwell was taking round after round.

Lockett knows his fighter better than anyone.

Everyone corner, ref and doctor have nothing to be ashamed of.

It's just one of the unfortunate things in boxing.
The round before the stoppage I thought he actually did well. I need to check my notes and scorecard but he still looked like his punches were carrying venom.

Eddie Futch pulled out Frazier in his second fight with Foreman as well, as soon as Frazier got knocked down, he was one of the great trainer's.

What makes you think that Blackwell would have out lasted Eubank jr, nobody finishes stronger then Eubank jr, check the O'sulivan, Chudinov and Billie Joe fights, he would have gone on all night against Blackwell. The ref stops fights, not the corner or the doctor, at the end of the day the ref makes the decision. Lockett's plan was flawed in this occasion, though he is a very good trainer.

The gameplan would of been play to Balckwells strength which has always been his stamina.

Agreed about Eubank his engine is good and he just misjudged the BJS fight spectacularly.

Eubank could have judged the Saunders bout however he liked, he'd have still got his head boxed off.

Its easy after the fact ,, But they obviously thought he night come on strong , or even pinned there hopes on divine intervention , But even though he was taking punishment , they obviously did;nt think Ebank hits hard enugh to do that damage , and thought bNick would take him out

In any case theres 3 people who could of stopped that fight and 2 of them can overule the trainer no matter what he says ,

Eubank jr strolled around and posed in the early rounds, that why he lost more of them, but in the last 5 rounds Eubank jr gave him massive problems. The early rounds were closer rounds, but the later rounds were more dominant for Eubank jr. I don't know why people rate Billie Joe so highly, he never lasts his fights well.

Nick Blackwell is less of a puncher then Eubank jr and Eubank jr has never been hurt, so how could they think he would take him out or in fact even out last him, Eubank jr stamina is great.

I agree Blackwells main thing is his fitness and stamina, but Eubank jr has great fitness and stamina, more has he proved then Blackwell, unfortunately Blackwell was never going to win that fight, he just did not have the tools to beat Eubank, they should not have took that fight.
