superstar in Rio?

Who do you think will pick up the Val Barker trophy in Rio? Will there be a stand out star this summer?

If Shakur Stevenson wins gold beating the likes of Robeisy Ramirez and Michael Conlan convincingly, he will be a superstar no doubt.
For Robeisy Ramirez and Roniel Iglesias, winning a second gold will mean they enter a select club of historical boxers and they will need to beat a couple of dangerous opponents which will make them candidates for the Val Barker Trophy.

Robeisis has not qualified for the Olympics, Andy Cruz will represent Cuba.

Cruz has withdrawn, weight issues, he's boxing at 64 now! So Ramirez should make it in the last qualifiers.

Presumably then Yasnier Toledo Lopez will take preference over Cruz at 64.Julio Cesar must be a Val Barker contender at 81.

Yep, Cruz is gone. The Moroccan moved up to take a place and the Africans gained a place from their qualifier.

Shakur Stevenson is something like 24 -0 in international competition and has won 2 World Championships. He may be destined to Win That Olympic Gold and become a Superstar

Most so called amateurs that are good enough to make it to the Olympics are being payed in some way. If a so called pro wins the outstanding boxer trophy...good for them.
