Demetrius Andrade looked SENSATIONAL tonight

Post by gilgamesh »

He just put on a magnificent performance against Nelson. Tattooing him with big shots, and a full arsenal throughout. Winning every round, scoring 4 knockdowns, and finally getting the stoppage in the 12th round.

I want to see this guy against The Charlo's and Lara ASAP!

He just looked more impressive than those guys have ever looked.

Good fighter, I'm not as excited as you are based off of the opposition. I will say I've never seen him that aggressive.

He looked sensational but maybe Nelson was the right opponent for him.

Hopefully the top fights can be made at LM. Lots of potential match ups.

Andrade is a problem for anyone at 154.

Nelson is a solid fighter, it was more the fact that Andrade showed a complete arsenal hitting Nelson with every punch in the book, and fought at a busy pace throughout.

I'd pick Andrade to beat both Charlos.

Andrade is the business. I really hope he can get a fight with Lara or one of the Charlos because nobody else in the division will be a challenge for him.

Really good offensive fighter. Can he perform when someone is putting it on him? I'm not sure. There are questions to be answered.

Good fighter though.

HBO and SHO did a great job growing the spotlights on several boxers last night. Most noteworthy, Lomachenko but Andrade is a close second for his performance last night.

I think he will give both Charlo's a great fight. Will they ever get inside the ring with Andrade, who knows? Most likely, not.

Nelson was a good test for Andrade. I believe he beat the guy Jermell Charlo just fought? Anyway, hope he gets Charlo soon. I think Canelo will avoid him still. He has had several chances to fight him in the last few years, but too high risk low reward. Several good match-ups at 154.

I consider Andrade the best in the division but this was not impressive at all, never mind SENSATIONAL. His opponent was unbelievably poor, essentially a punching bag. Andrade was coming in straight lines and was staying in the punching range without head movement all the time. Yet that dude was not able to take any advantage. Most of the time he was not even trying to throw. And when he throw it was slow and weak. I am scratching my head whether this was a fix.

Lets have Charlo fight already.

I'll agree Andrade was far from perfect, as he seemed to be open to hit a few times, but to say Nelson is a punching bag is a bit strong. He beat John Jackson a few years back, and Jackson was beating Charlo easily until getting caught, which could have been avoided. Fighting a 6'3" guys that stays busy isn't exactly easy. No, Nelson is not a world beater, but I thought it was a good step up fight for Andrade, especially considering his inactivity.

Haymon doesn't really seem to have any big plans for Lara, so maybe we can get Lara/Andrade. Would be a really interesting fight.

Lara/Andrade could potentially be built up to be a really big fight.

Unless Canelo goes back there isn't a better fight at 154.

If Nelson is better then that performance then it reinforces my suspicion about the fix. Because that was a performance of a punching bag. Andrade was not trying anything special. He comes in, stands in front of his opponent flatfooted and casually throws 5 power punch combination with no movement. All Nelson could do was to cover up and maybe throw a timid hook once in a while. I am not criticizing Andrade, he did what was required. But I cant help to wonder if he is indeed suffering from ring rust. Charlo wont be standing in front of him, so that Boo Boo can practice his power punching. He will be sticking and moving, he is bloody fast.
