Liston dominates early. Swelling Frazier up with the jab and the right hand, and outboxing Joe in center ring. Joe starts picking up the pace as he was known to do as the fight goes on, and Liston starts to tire from the relentless attack of Frazier. Frazier starts wearing Liston down with a steady body attack, and starts swelling up his face with that sledgehammer left hook. The momentum goes back and forth all along the way in the fight, but Frazier's greater desire, and better engine ultimately wins the day. He'd either take a narrow decision or stop Liston somewhere between the 13th and 15th round.

Ironically, I think a prime Frazier beats a prime Foreman but loses to Liston. Liston had the stamina and boxing ability that Foreman lacked. His speed was also superior to Foreman's by far. As was his jab. Don't get me wrong, Foreman had a great jab, though he sometimes forgot it. Sonny never forgot his.

Prime Frazier comes at Liston full bore, bobbing and a weaving, throwing the left hook, winning a couple of rounds until Liston starts connecting with thunderous shots and down will go Frazier not once not twice maybe 3/4 more times, with the ref eventually stopping the contest with Frazier in no fit sate to continue.

No offence but that seems like a bit of a ridiculous statement considering an unbeaten Foreman demolished an unbeaten Frazier in 6 minutes.

Frazier weathers an early storm and begins turning the tide around the 6th, before stopping Liston around the 12th or 13th.

A very old Sonny Liston wanted to fight Frazier... Liston said, "I wouldn't have to go looking for Frazier. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel"

That's exactly what it would be... Foreman-Frazier all over again... Frazier turned down all offers for a Liston fight.
