Moloney's head Melbourne card - June 24th

Post by Like a Boss »

The Moloney twins head the Malvern Town Hall card on June 24th.

Jason 7-0 will defend his recently won WBA Oceania super bantamweight title against 18-1 John Amuzu.

Andrew, also 7-0, will fight 11-5-1 Cris Alfante.

The undercard is made up primarily of inexperienced up and comers.

ANDREW MOLONEY OPPONENT BETS HIS ENTIRE PURSE, MOLONEY ACCEPTS THE WINNER TAKES ALL CONDITIONS

Boxing promoter Peter Maniatis was advised by Andrew Moloney's Filipino opponent Cris Alfante, that he was willing to gamble his entire purse, if Moloney was willing to do the same.

Here's what Maniatis posted after speaking with Alfante...

"Filipino Boxer Cris Alfante wants to bet his purse that he defeats Andrew Moloney on Friday night June 24th. He is a very confident boxer and drew his last fight controversially in Japan with a 10-0 undeafeated boxer!

The response from Moloney was swift!

It's on. Winner takes all!

Pretty brave move by Alfante.
Maybe he should have spoken to his compatriots Hero Tito and Adonis Aguelo about getting a square deal from the judges in Melbourne.
They were both screwed in their fights with Tomlinson.
Alfante would have to KO Andrew to get the win. Unfortunately for him he'll be heading home empty handed.

Apart from that I think both Moloneys win on their merits. :TU:

I usually take these 'winner-takes-all' announcements with a grain of salt. It probably amounts to nothing more than a Peter Maniatis promotional gimmick. But a clever one because it gets people talking.

I'm shattered.
Here I was thinking that the Haumono team's million dollar offer to get Lucas Browne in the ring was Kosher.

Don't know who bet what or who received what but the $20,000 side bet between Jerkic and Shaggy reportedly happened.
But like you suggest it's very rare.

Both Moloney's moved to 8-0 with wins last night.

Jason stopped his opponent in 3 maintaining his 100% KO record.

Andrew won on points.

There next engagement is the Green vs Watts undercard.

I wonder what happened to Jason's intended opponent John Amuzu? Wasn't aware of late replacement Rivera 'til last night. Maybe visa problems?

Give them a bit more time mate. Not everyone can be like Lomachenko. :TU: They will step them up in due time the first 10 or so opponents will be stepping stone fights to make them look good and wow the crowd.

They have a lot to learn and are busy learning it. Their time will come.
