Euro and EU Champions

Post by Londonirish »

Am i right thinking All UK European and EU Champions will now be stripped of the Title as the UK is not part of Europe anymore so they wouldn't be eligible to box for it..

It would only effect the EU belt; the UK is still a European country.

We're still geographically part of Europe just in the process of leaving the EU. It shouldn't affect these titles.

I believe it should affect the EU title (although I haven't seen this title defended in a while).

What I think (surely) it will have the biggest impact is in relation to the control of the BBBoC and the use of the LBC and MBC hosting fights in the UK.

There were European Champions back in the early 1900's so I would be surprised if it made any difference other than possibly the EU version.

If it means the end of the EU titles and the boxers being referred to as "European Champion" then it will be worth the risk of having Boris as PM.

It won't affect the European championship but it will make the EU belt unavailable to British boxers, however the EBU-EE belt will effectively take its place

:TU: I hadn't realised that about the EU title. No great loss I suppose.

The EBU has an EU and EEU (which stands for external EU) belt beneath it's EBU belt. Once we exit it will just be a case we fight the Norwegians, Swiss and Russians etc for the other belt if we want to use those belts to climb the EBU ratings.
