Zac Dunn now fighting Carlos Adan Jerez on July 1st
Barry Michael has confirmed on facebook that Zac Dunn will now be fighting Argentinian Carlos Adan Jerez 43-19-3 on July 1st.
Zac's original opponent Francis Cheka failed to get his visa sorted despite the best efforts of Barry and team Dunn and isn't coming.

Jerez lost to Bursak who Dunn beat. But Dunn didn't have things his own way. Tough fight. Jerez also lost to Mundine years ago.

Re: Zac Dunn now fighting Carlos Adan Jerez on July 1st
Sam Soliman is a huge rap for Zac Dunn. Can't understand why he isn't already a world champion :
Aussie boxing legend Sam Soliman annoints Melbourne boy Zac Dunn as Australia’s next boxing champion
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/boxin ... b3d26dabdb
ZAC Dunn’s inevitable journey towards a world super middleweight title bout has received glowing endorsement from Australian boxing royalty, Sam Soliman.
Soliman, 42, is a former IBF world middleweight champion who has been in with some of boxing’s elite over a 20-year career, so when he speaks, you listen. And when he speaks about former St Kevin’s student Dunn, it’s with obvious admiration.
“Zac Dunn is a very, very good banger and a clever tactical fighter in the way he cuts the ring off. I’ve sparred with him a lot. I’m actually very surprised he’s not already a world champion given his strength and amateur background,” said Soliman, 42, who fights unbeaten Russian Sergiy Derevyanchenko in the US on July 21.
“Zac had a very good amateur career and history shows that background often leads to a world championship. He’s in the top five of blokes I’ve fought or sparred for power shots. You can’t make a mistake with Zac because he can make you pay with both hands.
“To me his best punch is his left hook which is short and sharp, just the way it should be thrown. Others would say his right hand is his best shot. He isn’t a haymaker puncher either because of his amateur teachings.
“The biggest puncher I have fought by far was Howard Eastman, ahead of fighters like Eric Teymour, Winky Wright, Raymond Joval, Giovanni Lorenzo and Garth Wood. Zac is right up there with them. And he will become a champion if he remains dedicated, because a lot don’t.”
Dunn’s progression towards the WBC super-middleweight title takes a further step on Friday night at The Melbourne Pavilion when he meets Argentinian Carlos Adan Jerez, who interestingly lost a welterweight fight eight years ago on points to the great Mexican and current WBC world middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.
At 37, Jerez’s ringcraft gained from his 62-fight career (43 wins) is expected to provide Dunn with valuable experience prior to a likely WBC title eliminator against Turkey’s “Mr Robot”, Avni Yildirin, with the winner to challenge champion Badou Jack.
As it stands Dunn is rated 8 by the WBC, 9 in the IBF and WBO and 14 by the WBA, making him clearly the highest-rated current Australian boxer.

Might end up being a better contest than the main event?

Terrific scrap between Capps and Colomban. Sam a little too classy. But Benny, cut eye and all, as game as they come.
Colomban winner by MD.

Thomas failed to make weight. So can't win the title. But sat Williams on his butt early in the 1st.

What an absolutely sensational end to another cracker of a fight. Thomas gets up in the final seconds!

Never thought the words to our national anthem were that difficult
That young girl will be on a few blooper reels after that effort.

Mitchell impressive so far. Too quick. Too busy. Nader in good shape and came to fight. But he will need a minor miracle here.

Classy performance by Mitchell. Fit, fast hands, good movement. Nader would have been lucky to have won a round there and probably should hang them up again. Mind willing. Body no longer capable.

Disappointing Jerez quit on his stool. But Dunn had clearly broken his spirits and perhaps other parts of Jerez as well.
