RIP boxing writer & BHF member Jack Obermayer
Boxing writer Jack Obermayer has passed away age 72. Obermayer covered 3514 professional fight cards in 49 states in over 400 cities and was affectionately known as “KO-JO”. He wrote for many publications such Flash Gordon’s “Tonight’s Boxing Program”, Ring Magazine, Boxing Illustrated (later Boxing Digest) and USA Boxing News.
Obermayer penned the popular column “KO JO Says”, which chronicled his many road trips to fights and his love of classic diners. Obermayer was inducted into the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fames. In 2010 he won the Barney Nagler Award for Long and Meritorious Service by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
