Does anyone think Brook will beat GGG?

Post by Controversial »

I notice that some people have voted in another thread that Brook will win but I can't see any posts predicting a Brook win. So who here actually thinks Brook will win?

I envisage this being a very short thread lol.

maybe a terrible fight but perhaps lets get behind the underdog. A more terrible fight will be Fury v Klit 2 if that ever happens.

That's a much better fight.

Right now, RIGHT FAHKING NOW, I give Brook a 5% chance of winning.

There are NINE weeks until the fight & with each week I will give Brook another 5% chance of winning so by fight night I'll have it as a 50/50 fight

I've been doing this when British/Irish fighters are up against top notch furrengers for over 35 years now.

Every now & then it happens* so I'll keep on dreaming.

No. Fair play to him for taking the fight though.

No. It'll be fascinating to see how much Brook can take though.

If they were the same size then yes it could be close.

As it stands....not a chance.

No chance whatsoever. Think the 1/6 for the Golovkin win is a very generous from the bookies. The only reason I havent lumped on yet is the niggling feeling that brook might pull out.

To be honest, I'll be rooting for GGG. He's probably my favourite fighter right now, and I'm not one to root for someone based on their nationality.

Golovkin has an exciting looking record but I've found myself fast forwarding through many rounds of his fights recently. It's the same old pattern every time. Very impressive of course but hardly mind blowing stuff.

Bizarre match coming up with Brook. It may be causing a stir with some but I just find it plain weird, and am only really able to focus on the aftermath of the fight and what little will have been proven.

How can Brook possibly get the win here?

No. Just cant see how Brook wins and just pray this doesnt end very badly for Brook. Bad match-making. Brook should have gone after Canelo at 154lbs than sign up to this suicide.

You must be very hard to please  I could watch Golovkin go to work all night, he's probably my favourite current fighter to watch.

Purely business fight for brook no chance of him winning. if its too much for him, corner pulls him out and he walks away with 2-3 million, still the IBF champ and he will probably get a big fight at 147.

Hah well it's not that I don't want to enjoy it, but when you know after 30 seconds that the opponent has zero chance it all goes downhill from there for me. GGG's wide, flat footed uber efficient style doesn't exactly help either.

That said, if the Alvarez fight does ever happen I won't be missing a punch.

Watching him nullify, pick apart and then terminate Lemiuex, was a thing of rare beauty. Lemiuex was barely allowed to land a shot.

If they ever do fight, it will be fireworks. Canelo has a very good chin, and has decent skills. He will bring it to GGG, and lose, but there will definitely be fireworks.

Ya what, mate?! If you watch this (12:53)...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9WQnHnyCpk&t=773

...you can pinpoint the exact moment the fight's over. Golovkin drops his hands to invite punches, but notice how ready he is to bring them back up if necessary. Wade could've set himself for his best punch instead of that half-hearted final right (Golovkin would've seen it coming and blocked it via Wade's repositioning of his feet; note G's downward focus), or Wade could've coiled into a power jab or just waited it out. But he did the worst possible thing: he couldn't deny himself the opportunity to land free shots, but neither could he overcome his fear to commit fully. He gave Golovkin the answer to his hands-dropping question: a betrayal of apprehension. Golovkin moved in and ended it soon after.

Like Tyson before him, the man who beats Golovkin's the one who has the temerity - and ability - to stand up to him. Eubank might have a chance if he waits for G's mileage to increase over the coming years. Callum Smith might have the tools to compete, but he's not ready.

And to answer the question: alas, no. But massive respect to Brook for a Jacob's Ladder of a step-up.
