Kovalev vs. Chilemba FOTY candidate?
Kovalev vs. Chilemba FOTY candidate?
I saw this fight and it was great. Every second of that bout was intriguing. Excellent display of skill and will here. No posing, no sloppy "slick defensive posturing", no running, none of that. Even when punches weren't being thrown you can see each fighter thinking and trying to gain positioning and claim the higher ground... they stayed in the pocket engaged throughout the fight. I think it could be a FOTY.

Can’t wait to watch it, Chilembas was robbed in his last fight against E. Alvarez.

You must be joking. Chilemba was running and spoiling for much of the fight.

You just redefined what most of us fight fans believe makes a fight worthy of FOTY.

I must of watched a different fight. Chilemba was completely defensive for at least 3/4 of the fight. He came to survive. On the other hand Kovalev was overly aggressive, recklessly coming forward attempting to land his big right. It was a frustrating fight. Both fought at a distance, out of the pocket in my opinion.

It wasn't Castillo vs Corrales but it was better than Thurman vs Porter...
Kovalev was always trying to set up Chilemba and vice versa...an absolute chess match and each capitalizing on the others mistakes. Fight was fought in the middle of the ring with both looking to counter the other. I think each through over 200 power punches according to stats and the punches were clean and thrown with purpose...

Reading this dude's comments should shed some insight on why MANY people find Floyd's fights to be exciting.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...
If you think it was FOTY worthy, makes sense. I don't think a fight has to be full of drama and violence to be FOTY.
This was a high quality fight and Chilemba had it going for a little until the power dropped.
I wouldn't call it FOTY of the year because it was pretty one-sided after the KD.
... or you could of had a good high going while watching the fight and it made things seem a little more dramatic ...
