They do that to hype him up, they know the Americans hype him up. He also acts like AJ is a joke, while Tyson said in earlier stage, when AJ was still an amateur that AJ would once become a world champion.
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Ciganos right, not as dangerous as luis Ortiz
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
I think the biggest threat to Mr Fury is himself the way things are going of late .
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Right now the biggest threat to Fury is Klitschko. If he manages to do the double over him then we can argue over Wilder, AJ and Ortiz etc....
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Wilder's the easiest mark out there as far as other major titleholders in the division goes. That's why Peter is saying this.

I don't think anybody is going to give Ortiz a shot if they can avoid him. He's too much risk for very little reward.

Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
If Fury can beat Wladimir again I don't see anything Wilder has that can beat Fury, Klitschko does everything better than Wilder and hits harder
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Wilder is more aggressive than Wlad though, and to me that's a very important difference, probably more so than the technical edge Wlad has over Wilder.
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Wilder is light on his feet, long limbed with fast hands and a huge punch. He is a potent force don't be fooled by his wild finishing when opponents are already beaten.

Thinking exactly the same thing

Wilder is pants, watched back his last fight, good grief, I've seen better technique in street fights, and I'm not even exaggerating. Standing there with his arms by his sides, whaling away completely square on - he's just a KO waiting to happen.
Joshua would annihilate him.

Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
I agree. I've never seen the big deal with Wilder apart from a good jab and power. His feet are awful and always looks easy to hit. Would fancy Fury over all of them as long as his head is straight and is focused.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Wilder is pants, watched back his last fight, good grief, I've seen better technique in street fights, and I'm not even exaggerating. Wilder's a decent boxer when he decides to be. Has a lovely jab and a fast, hard right hand that can give anyone problems. I agree he looks a KO waiting to happen at times, but when he circles behind the jab and delivers the straight right he looks pretty good to me.Reece_D wrote:I agree. It's all about discipline. He switches off in fights because he can afford to thus far - but he can't against Fury or Ortiz.
Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Anyone with any sort of defence and can box and move will pose Wilder huge problems. I would of fancied Povetkin to beat Wilder if they fought by late rounds KO. Wilder is a good character for the division but I'm still not impressed by the overall package.Dixonian wrote:Wilder's a decent boxer when he decides to be. Trouble is, it's hard to suddenly become disciplined in the middle of a fight, the habits formed during a career are very very hard to shake off, that's why so many top flight amateurs make top pros, it's all those habits learnt from an early age.Dixonian wrote:Wilder's a decent boxer when he decides to be. Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Wilder is definitely a KO waiting to happen. Eventually he'll face someone with technique that beats his athleticism/physical gifts. And with how wild he can be, when he goes I think we're in for a highlight reel KO.
Wlad is still the biggest threat to Fury to me. He's the #2 in the division and probably the biggest puncher in world boxing.
AJ seems too stiff and basic for Fury. Other than the occasional lead left hook he tends to rely on his 1-2 a bit too much. He's explosive but slightly predictable at the same time.
Ortiz is technically a very good fighter, undoubtedly one of the most skillful heavyweights around, but I think Fury is a bad fight for him stylistically. He's probably the best inside fighter in the division so he does well in fights where his opponent doesn't make him move too much, prime example being the Jennings fight. I think his feet might be a bit too slow for Fury's length, feints and unorthodox movements though.

Very true. But he did seem more switched on against Stiverne.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Trouble is, it's hard to suddenly become disciplined in the middle of a fight, the habits formed during a career are very very hard to shake off, that's why so many top flight amateurs make top pros, it's all those habits learnt from an early age.Dixonian wrote:Wilder's a decent boxer when he decides to be. Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
I just want him to fight someone interesting. Not one top ten opponent since winning the title and his soft touches are starting to get boring to me now. Presumably he'll need another mediocre opponent for his 2017 comeback as well.
He's crude, but the power is there and he's got some pretty fast hands to go with it. Along with his reach, jab (which is good when he uses it), and ability to close strong deep into fights, I think he's dangerous for everyone, so it's very frustrating to see him fixed at a level of opposition where his best challenger is arguably someone who was utterly outclassed, dropped twice, and stopped by relatively light hitting Bryant Jennings.

think wilder is a threat to everybody dont think any of the top fighters have his power, a lot of the last few wilder fights he has been behind on the cards bar the Arreola fight, but bang his power gets him out of trouble, you will have to be switched on for 12 rounds if you face him

Re: Peter Fury Says Deontay Wilder Is The Biggest Realistic Threat to Tyson Fury
Make no mistake, Wladimir Klitschko is still the biggest threat to Tyson Fury. In fact, Klitschko is still the biggest threat to any heavyweight on the planet, including Wilder and Ortiz. If Tyson Fury can defeat Klitschko in the rematch, he will solidify the fact of being the dominate heavyweight on the planet. No offense to Wilder, Ortiz, Joshua or anyone else in the world.... but defeating the likes of Arreola, Thompson, and Breazeale doesn't convince anyone with a rational thinking brain that they are a legitimate threat to Klitschko, let alone Fury. That being said.... Wilder is the only one with the experience near the top level to lay any sort of claim. Until Ortiz and Joshua defeats a solid, credentialed heavyweight within his prime (or near prime) they cannot say the same. They are still world's apart.

PARKER WILDER JOSHUA HAYE WLAD POVETKIN & FURY PRETTY EQUAL POWERS IN HVY.-WT DIV. Ortiz IS NOT THERE! Lucas Browne - Andy Ruiz - Luis Ortiz in a second category for my money. Stiverne could upset any-one of them too!
