James DeGale
James DeGale
Any news on what's happening with him? Not heard anything since he out pointed Porky Medina. Wouldn't mind seeing him and Ramirez in a unification but I think Ramirez is injured atm.
Re: James DeGale
Is VERY quiet on this. Dan Rafael revealed about a month ago that him v Jack would now be October/November (instead of September) as they needed time to build the fight. Since then there has literally been nothing said. I've been keeping an eye out for it as I actually fancied tying in my first visit to Vegas with the Jack v Degale fight (British boxer abroad coupled with a good chance to get tickets). I'm now thinking I might just find another fight and go for that rather than hanging about waiting for something that feels like it may never happen.

Re: James DeGale
Thought it was going to be over here. Before and after the Medina flight he was saying a lot about his next fight being here and sounded like him an Eddie had fallen out over it. Would make sense for him to have a tune up fight on the brook/GGG undercardmfc_se15 wrote:Is VERY quiet on this. Re: James DeGale
That's what prompted me to start the thread. I thought they would've got him on that GGG/Brook card. As you say though, maybe him and fast Eddie have had words and there's been a fall out.afcmarshall wrote:Thought it was going to be over here. Re: James DeGale
i definitely think degale and hearn have had a fall out
Re: James DeGale
DeGale has repeatedly said that he wants the unification against Badou Jack.
But Jack failed a doping test in April - so we actually don't know if he is still the WBC Champion or not.

Re: James DeGale
DeGale said on TalkSport that he was making more money fighting in America, than what he would be if he came back to England. There's no doubt that DeGale wants a homecoming fight in London.Oiky wrote:i definitely think degale and hearn have had a fall out
Only trouble is it seems that only the Groves fight would be an absolute sellout and he doesn't mention George at all as being a viable challenger for his title.
Re: James DeGale
In the immediate aftermath he talked about it being here. Then the talk switched again to it being in Vegas, can't find it now but about a month maybe 6 weeks ago fat dan put out some tweets saying rather than September it was now looking like being in the 'fall' in Vegas. Since then silence. Be nice if Kugan asked Hearn about it in his next interview as it does seem a long time of silence on it, pretty much three months have gone past since the last fight.afcmarshall wrote:Thought it was going to be over here. Indeed it was Bute who failed a drugs test. Jack has not failed a test.Boxerbeetle wrote:I thought it was Bute that failed?Crease wrote:DeGale has repeatedly said that he wants the unification against Badou Jack.

Excuse me gents, my memory failed me. Yes it was Bute who failed. Badou Jack is clean. My apologies to you all.Stuarty30 wrote:Yeah I think Bute failed after his draw with Jack didn't he?The Law wrote:Indeed it was Bute who failed a drugs test. Re: James DeGale
Props to Degale for beating a drugged up Bute. Clearly all the drugs did was sort his punch resistance. I don't believe for a minute he was only drugged for Jack, Froch retired him.
Feel for Degale, he's a nice lad, I met him briefly and he was sound. His record looks like he laboured over Bute but who knows how he faired in reality.
I'd love to see him in with Groves and may the best man win. Callum Smith to face the winner.
Oh how we dream

Re: James DeGale
Should it not be Groves against Smith and the winner face Degale considering he holds the title?fightfaninfrance wrote:Props to Degale for beating a drugged up Bute. Here is the latest. Looks like we might be getting an announcement 'soon'

Is that a pre-fight announcement, or the announcement that there will shortly be an announcement?mfc_se15 wrote:Here is the latest. Looks like we might be getting an announcement 'soon'

I read that they fell out over Hearn only being able to give Degale 2 tickets the last AJ fight, true story.Oiky wrote:i definitely think degale and hearn have had a fall out

Tricky one I think this is a whole new stage of announcements. This I believe is the announcement to tell us there may be an announcement
Re: James DeGale
The DeGale and Selby situations are one of the rare situations where I back Eddie Earns...
Both decide to go with Al Haymon and then realise that the big money is being made in the UK...
From an outsider's viewpoint they still expect Eddie to treat them as Matchroom fighters when they ditch him for the Vegas lights.

Eddie confirmed this in an interview with iFL TV, sad reallychrisnew86 wrote:I read that they fell out over Hearn only being able to give Degale 2 tickets the last AJ fight, true story.Oiky wrote:i definitely think degale and hearn have had a fall out
Re: James DeGale
I doubt they're that fussed. Probably been earning more fighting on Haymon shows than they would with Hearn bar the Warrington and maybe Callum Smith fights. Even then I'm not sure much they'd make respectively for those fights.jizzle wrote:The DeGale and Selby situations are one of the rare situations where I back Eddie Earns...

Re: James DeGale
They probably get more per fight with Haymon, but one thing Eddie does do is deliver fights regularly. Lots of Haymon fighters seem to fight once and then sit on the sidelines for a good 8 months with no word on their next fight, must be frustrating for the boxers that are actually trying to get sh!t done in their careers rather than just being in it to pick up the odd pay cheque.
