What if ?-Floyd Patterson vrs George Chuvalo (1961)

Post by Caractacus »

If George Chuvalo had not have lost his second fight with Bob Cleroux,
he said he had been scheduled to fight Floyd Patterson for the Heavyweight championship in Toronto.
(Patterson had fought Tom Mc Neely instead)
How would that fight have gone do you think ?

Chuvalo was a tough man... But Patterson was too good a boxer for him at about any time. Patterson beat Bonavena at 37. He was a very small Heavyweight with very good technical skills. Patterson was a Middleweight when he turned pro... When Patterson weighed 168 and had about 12 pro fights he fought Joey Maxim.. Cus D'Amato was in a big hurry with Patterson -- like he was with Tyson.. Cus matched Patterson quickly and aggressively.. Just about everyone who watched Patterson-Maxim thought Patterson won except the judges.
